FBI Relied on a Private Firm’s Investigation of the DNC to Assess Russian Hacking

*comments*
I raise my pear cognac to the memory of an incompetent coward who rose to be head of the FBI solely based on contacts and the fact that he looked the part. May Comey languish in some third rate mall security firm until such time that the democrats can investigate and prosecute him for his double-dealing and involvment in Trump's Russian collusion!

Unreal. How in blue blazes does anyone deny the FBI anything??? Any request??? Let alone the DNC! What? Now all any of us ever have to do if the FBI requests something from any of us is to just simply say, "Bug off, I don't think so." :palm:
This stinks to high collusion!

I've got a buddy at CrowdStrike. He says the company's in good hands. I tend to agree, thanks to this:

Let me add we also outsource a lot of cyber and technical functions at State. Why? The government won't pay these people what they're worth.
Sorry but your buddy's word on this is not a substitute for an FBI investigation.
It’s one thing to trust tech companies to provide email servers and cloud storage and quite another to rely exclusively on them to collect and analyze evidence of a major security incident attributed to a foreign national government.

Further: from your article- it does look like CrowdStrike got special treatment despite the denial

He doesn't expect CrowdStrike to get any special treatment from the FBI or others in government simply because of his personal experience in these types of investigations

he primary rationale readers are given for why they should believe that the Russian government meddled in the U.S. election is because the FBI, CIA, and NSA believe that to be the case. We are given very little actual detail about what happened or how the incidents were traced to Russia specifically, while we are treated to numerous statements along the lines of: “We assess with high confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election” or “We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments.”

Of course, there are many reasons the Intelligence Community might have decided not to reveal any actual evidence for these claims. But in the absence of that evidence, whether or not you believe their conclusions rests entirely on your confidence in the judgment and investigative abilities of the FBI, CIA, and NSA. And if the evidence that they’ve used to level major accusations at a foreign government comes not from agencies of the U.S. government or direct law enforcement investigations, but rather from private sector firms like CrowdStrike, then the “high confidence” of the government counts for very little.

If my understanding is right, the FBI has never actually seen the evidence, because that would mean getting their hands on the DNC servers and the DNC wouldn't allow them.

Crowdstrike is also paid by the DNC, and the DNC has an interest in delegitimizing the election.

Has anyone in congress called bullshit on this?

The FBI did not do the malware analysis, is all I really know.
Nobody calls bullshit because the Dems don't give a damn as long as it hurts Trump,
and the Republicans are the party of John McCain.

Politically it's a bad position not to hate all things Russian -look what Deep State did to Trump
