An FBI agent was relieved of duty for declining to arrange a "perp walk" of the bureau's former director, James Comey, in front of news media cameras after Comey was federally charged last month, four people briefed on the matter said on Friday.

An FBI spokeswoman declined to comment on personnel matters.

Reuters could not immediately determine how or when senior FBI officials wanted to stage bringing Comey into the bureau's Washington field office. Only a summons to appear in court was issued in the case, and not an arrest warrant. However, defendants will often report to an FBI field office for booking after a court summons is issued.
Comey, who has denied wrongdoing, is due to appear in court in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside Washington, on Thursday.

It's interesting that the political leaders of the FBI wants to arrest Comey without an actual arrest warrant. No wonder real FBI agents said "no."

Sending armed agents wearing tactical gear to arrest someone under a court summons would be the height of ridiculous waste of resources and would likely make a judge question the reason for it when it comes to the DOJ trying to prosecute the case. If anything it would only result in more evidence that the case is not about an actual crime but only about news coverage to make Trump happy.
