$200 million in lobbying over 10 years. I wonder if they spent more on lobbying than they would have in taxes? Inquiring minds want to know.

"Something to think about as tax day nears: General Electric is so good at doing their taxes, the government pays them. In 2010, the company reported global profits of $14.2 billion, $5.1 billion of which came from the U.S. But using a combination of offshore accounts and aggressive lobbying for tax breaks, GE managed to not only pay no taxes, but get a benefit of $3.2 billion. GE spent $200 million on lobbying in the last decade. At one point, when a generous tax break was about to expire, the head of GE's tax team met with Representative Charles Rangel, then chairman of the ways and means committee, and begged for an extension on one knee. Supposedly it was a joke, but GE got its extension, and Rangel got a $30 million gift for New York City schools. GE is an extreme example of a historical trend: The corporate share of the nation's tax receipts went from 30 percent in the 1950s to 6.6 percent in 2009."

Soooo........do you see a little difference in the situations here....
Fox uses existing law
".....By taking advantage of a provision in the law that allows expanding companies like Mr. Murdoch’s to defer taxes to future years, the News Corporation paid no federal taxes in two of the last four years, and in the other two it paid only a fraction of what it otherwise would have owed.

while by your own post, GE kisses Charles Rangel's ass, chairman of the ways and means committee, and begs for an extension
GE got its extension, and Rangel got a $30 million gift for New York City schools.

Does that even approach the "Fox did the same thing" excuse that is so often used around here....???
Rangle took a bribe, thats what really happened here.....and get away with it, as Democrats so often do with little fear of penalty....
because of the 'double standard' practiced openly in Washington

Wait a minute. If you support GE using loopholes to get out of paying taxes, and Rangel helped facilitate them, why is Rangel the bad guy here?

You should be praising him to the skies for helping GE.

That's what's truly pitiful about these neocon parrots and teabagging clowns...they're so caught up in their Fox News like knee jerk reactions that they don't realize how much they contradict themselves or that they are supporting policies not in their best interests.

Don't talk stupid.....you don't want to be put in the same category as TCL the chronology pinhead....
Begging for an extension that you would not otherwise be entitled to
and then PAYING a bribe to a politician for arranging for that extension is certainly not anything akin to using existing law like Fox did, fool....
Rangel should be prosecuted...along with GE....

Seriously, are you that Super Freak-ing Dumb and/or Stubborn that you think ignoring facts put before you and repeating your Super Freak-ing erroneous assertions will magically make you right? Hint: it doesn't. Once more for the Super Freak-ing mentally challenged:
you are a fucking tool, so if you refuse to use quotes, then I will ignore anything that does not pop up when I hit the reply with quote button.
".....By taking advantage of a provision in the law that allows expanding companies like Mr. Murdoch’s to defer taxes to future years, the News Corporation paid no federal taxes in two of the last four years, and in the other two it paid only a fraction of what it otherwise would have owed. During that time, Securities and Exchange Commission records show, the News Corporation’s domestic pretax profits topped $9.4 billion.”

Only a complete willfully ignorant and insipidly stubborn neocon toadie would read the above and then parrot the Super Freak-ing stupid assertions as you've done here, my delusional friend. Either that or you are truly one Super Freak-ing dunce who needs a refresher course in reading comprehension.

So stop being a Super Freak-ing wussy, grow up and be honest: Do you support/defend the abuse/fast and loose playing of the laws by Fox to avoid paying their fare share of taxes?

Again you fucking moron.... WHAT 'loose playing of the laws'.... SHOW us where they violated the tax code. If they did not violate the tax code then you are again a fucking idiot.

The Super Freak-ing corporate ass kisser strikes again! Tells us, you Super Freak-ing clown, just when do you think News Corporation is going to pay that balance? Essentially, they're like the sleaze who comes to the "all you can eat" buffet with several buckets in tow.

But that's alright with you, right bunky? Tax breaks and loopholes that are exploited and abused by the super rich and fat corporations which cost this country billions in revenue are okay with you because it's legal....while Super Freak-ing hypocrits defend/support the politicians who fight to keep those tax breaks in place while demonizing social services and public service programs as our financial culprits to the deficits. What a Super Freak-ing intellectual coward and hypocrit.
:palm:
