Fatal shooting at Denver screening of The Dark Knight Rises

No, I don't think that is the argument. I think the argument has been that banning assault rifles would not have saved the people in that theater.

Explain to me how he could have brought a bomb, other than straped to his person, he would have needed access to the theater. It is why he chose semi automatic weapons, a lot of fire power that is realdily transportable. I am not an explosive eert but I understand some orms are unpredictable. He could have used a coupe of hand gernade, but he chose guns, in your honest opinion, why do you think he chose guns!? He obviously knew a few things about explosives.

I don't claim to understand the workings of the lunatic mind.

But the fact that he rigged his apartment shows he does know how to build explosives.

Its not difficult to rig a fuse. Light it and toss it into teh theater. He left the theater and returned thru the exit up front. He could have done the same with a bomb.

the obvious answer to this is that he didn't want to die in the resulting explosion. it's why when his rifle jammed, he didn't eat a bullet from his handgun. It's also the same reason lots of people that do active shootings like this stop as soon as the guys with guns show up, because they themselves don't want to die.

Can you back that up? Cuz there's quite a few of these guys that end up turning the gun on themselves or getting mowed down by the police.

btw - I'll make a deal with you. I'll back your version of the 2nd Amendment if all American gun owners, not the police or military, turn in their guns and assault weapons and get issued a musket.

There. Now you have your literal interpretation of the Bill of Rights!:rofl2:

1) Bombs need not be strapped to a person
2) He had to get access either way, so that is not an issue, clearly he was able to do so
3) He chose the guns it would appear due to his desire to emulate the joker
4) Guns also can be unpredictable... as it appears he found out as his gun jammed.

if you payed better attention to the news, you'd know that what i'm telling you is right. do some of them kill themselves? of course, which is why I didn't say ALL of them.

how is that backing my version of the 2nd Amendment when MY version of the 2nd Amendment is to have the citizenry better armed than the government??????

There. Now you have your literal interpretation of the Bill of Rights!:rofl2:
that is YOUR version of the 2nd Amendment, not the framers.

Sorry, Sweetcheeks. It's your interpretation.

You read the second amendment to say all Americans have the right to carry a gun. Fine. We'll give them the guns made in 1776.

How can you be a literal supporter of the second amendment when you say it "is to have the citizenry better armed than the government"?

Please furnish a quote for that little zinger...

i reject your premise.

all you need to do is read the founders documents, constitutional convention minutes, federalist and anti-federalist papers, and all the opinions and commentaries prior to ratification. That is how I can be a literal supporter of the 2nd Amendment.

No, the point Rana is that he likely would have used the bombs had he not been able to get the guns. Thus blaming this on guns is not logical.

Really? You have so much insight into the minds of the criminal, you followed the wrong calling.

They also stop when the shooter has to reload.

I would not have made that statement if he had not also booby trapped the ever living hell out of his apartment with bombs. But he did. Which means he had access and the knowledge to do so.

Bobby trapping an apartment is a lot easier than planting a bomb in a theater. I think easy access to guns made his assault a lot easier. I don't know if he would have had success using a bomb, unless he was willing to blow himself up at the same time, or risk being caught panting a bomb. This type is usually too cowardly to commit suicide, their hope is to o out in a blaze of glory, police killing them, instead of themselves doing it.

so free speech should not apply to television or the internet because they weren't around back then?

Sure, provided the military and the police also only have those muskets. When the Bill of Rights was written, the musket was the state of the art military weapon. It was also what was carried by the infantry in the best equipped armies.

This guy threw two smoke bombs, so he obviously knew how to make fuses of some sort. They could just as easily have been explosives and he could just as easily stepped back out the exit door.
