Fatal shooting at Denver screening of The Dark Knight Rises

I realize that you're wrong. an automatic weapon is difficult to control on full auto because of the recoil and without proper training and firing technique, is almost guaranteed to miss high and to the right after the first 3 shots.

What makes you think they wouldn't practice before executing their plan? The Columbine kids had practice before they went into the school.

Nothing moronic about it. What took place in Colorado is the direct result of the gun rights that exist in this country. The ease with which guns are obtained by nutjobs, the cowboy culture that pervades the collective definition of 'defense' - all the stuff the gun nuts defend and hold near and dear. Well guess what? The James Holmeses are one of the aspects of that culture and the 'rights' that promote and perpetuate it.

Own it. Quit whining about it.
crock of shit. that's like blaming jesse jackson for all the reverse racism in the world.

I'm the type that I like to let a little time go by before I get into this stuff. I have seen some pretty ugly shit go down. 9/11 on my old board, this was six months before I got there but people later pointed it out to me and I went and read it, there were posters saying shit like, it's the fucking jews' fault. I have stuff to say but I want to think about it first. One thing I really wish is that instead of the same old conversation (which we should definitely have), we as a country would talk about mental health and how to address it. We have a culture IMO that stigmatizes mental illness, we do not have the public health infrastructure we need, and we lack education on the subject. Just my opinion.

I know this, but it still doesn't change the premise that shooters can practice and beome familiar with their weapon of choice before executing their crime.
maybe this is a hard concept for most to understand unless they have actually fired an automatic weapon, but it is completely different from a semi auto. one doesn't become familiar with an automatic by practicing for years with a semi auto. it just doesn't happen.

The consequences of the rights aren't in the Constitution, dipshit. What other obviousness do you need spelled out for your ignorant ass?

then explain how most murders are committed with guns purchased illegally?

explain how second amendment rights give someone the right to kill someone.

you won't, because you can't. we can expect more insults and smilies from you in deflection of your claims.

that is simply not true. that is like claiming the 4th amendment right against unlawful search and seizure directly results in a violation of those rights by police officers.

pure and utter nonsense.

Where did I say you could? If one has an automatic weapon, you can become accomplished by practicing with it. If one has a semi automatic weapon one can become accomplished by practicing with it. If one has a hand gun, one can beome accomplished by practicing with it. The point was, people generally don't commit this kind of planned terrorism without practicing with the weapon of their choice. This event, like Columbine was planned, and I imagine the young man beame familiar with his weapon before committing this horrendous crime.

It takes even less skill to kill with a bomb.

but a bit more difficult to construct, and in the US they evern track fertilzers. For large sales. Also the possibility of not going off, ammo usually works .

PS. TO ALL Sorry about my misposting - i'll have to be more careful, this stuff just gets me like a bull seeeing red, i'm so sick of guns.
Still, no excuse for sloppy posts.

Bombs like the one used in OK City are not that difficult to build. And the feds track large sales, but not multiple sales. So I have to make 2 trips a week to the Feed & seed for a few months.

Ammo usually works. But there is probably more skill in being an accurate shhoter than in building a bomb.

The shooter in Tuscaloosa fired thru the window of a crowded bar with a semi-auto rifle. Injured 11 and killed none.

OK. so that shows more of an intent, whereas some ( i have to be careful in my adjectives) gun crimes do not requiremuch preplaning.
This one obviously was. My problem with guns is the ease of use, and the easy availability. Bombs take some degree of skill -
been decades since i read thru the Anarchists Cookbook, and this was back when gunpowder (componets) were availble thru mail order.

Bombs can "misfire" - never having constructed one, i couldn't give you any specifics. I take your point though, IEDS seem relativly unsophisticated.

Gawd. what a "bring down" discussion, although it was nice chatting with you :)
