Fatal shooting at Denver screening of The Dark Knight Rises

I didn't assert gun violenece en toto was rising, i said "the carnage has shifted to Chicago" - Chicago is having gang wars, but the killings aren't limited to gang members. I mentioned DC/Balto, because i'm from there, and it was over a murder a day back in the 90's. I'm in Florida for over 10 years, don't know the situation there anymore, don't wanna know.

It( gun deaths) goes up and down in cycles -I also said last December was the month for record gun sales. not gun violence.

I just hate the fucking things, any asshole can kill with a gun, whereas other weapons take years to master.
Sorry, for the confusion, and i admit to being biased.

you just said "gun violence is going up" and did not specify a geographic area. thanks for the clear up.

imo, you don't need years to master killing someone with a knife. people die from blunt force trauma all the time...weapons are usually a bat, large piece of wood, or a metal bar/tool. also, let's not forget automobiles which account for more deaths than guns.

no thanks. i prefer not to look, i'd rather "cling to my ignorance" ( as in clinging to their guns and bibles) on this one.

The carnage in Colorado is what comes with this country's 'gun rights'. Own it, people. Or do something different. End of story.

the carnage has zero to do with gun rights. please cite in the constitution where it says you can commit mass murder with a gun.

thanks.

I can always count on you to dumb it down to unrealisitic simplicity. Come back when you have something intelligent to contribute. Thanks.

It takes even less skill to kill with a bomb.

I always end up wondering how someone gets the know-how to do something like that. I read that it was very sophisticated.

He may have been a lunatic, but he was an intelligent one it appears as he was at CU/Denver for an advanced degree in neurosciences.

wow. so directly responding to your claim is now "dumbing it down"? how is claiming that your claim that the carnage comes with guns - is false - dumbing it down? i asked you to cite where in the constitution such a notion comes from and that is dumbing it down?

apparently you're incapable of defending your claims with rational thought, other than, because i say. yeah...how intelligent.

The consequences of the rights aren't in the Constitution, dipshit. What other obviousness do you need spelled out for your ignorant ass?

Darla, I think you are using the source that could answer your question. I'm willing to bet there is plenty of info on how to make a bomb on the net.

And if the lunatic in question was a doctoral candidate in neuroscience, he is obviously a very intelligent lunatic. The combination of high intelligence and mental illness means he could have killed far more people if he had resorted to a means that did not involve guns.

My 2nd wife freaked out when she heard my two sons discussing how to make explosives. I knew it was an academic discussion by two nerds. Once she got to know them she wasn't worried.

And this is part of the freedom of information that is available on the web. Uncensored, unadulterated information is available on how to build bombs, make poisons, beat securities, etc. Almost anyone with a bit of intelligence can recreate this stuff. Does it remind you of another freedom we have that has inherent risks attached?

Aww, how cute - Lovey wants to fight Yurt's battles for him.

actually I was referring to your previous moronic comment about gun rights activists having to 'own' this. So if you have something intelligent to add, please feel free. Otherwise try to keep your stupidity to a minimum and let the adults discuss this.

Nothing moronic about it. What took place in Colorado is the direct result of the gun rights that exist in this country. The ease with which guns are obtained by nutjobs, the cowboy culture that pervades the collective definition of 'defense' - all the stuff the gun nuts defend and hold near and dear. Well guess what? The James Holmeses are one of the aspects of that culture and the 'rights' that promote and perpetuate it.

Own it. Quit whining about it.

K. I misread your post, i have bad eyesight, but that's not an excuse.

as to "carrying"
yes, SCOTUS has ruled it's an unabridged right to do so, where we disagree is the "freedom and rights" aren't worth the risk (IMHO).
I'd venture to say many more ppl were murdered by guns then saved lives. Impossible to back up that statement.
I'm from the Balto/DC area. Used to be more then 1 murder a day in each city -lots of drug dealing, but not all of it.
I think the carnage has now shifted to Chicago.

John Lennon
JFK
RFK
Dr. King.
4 reasons I can think of why guns are not healthy, and this was decades ago. Gun violence is going up, more guns are around/sold
(last December was record purchases). So there is a correlation, if not a causative linkage.

I admit to being predjudiced, i've seen too much death, too many mass murders, it's pretty much impossible to stop proliferation given SCOTUS rulings.
The consequences of proliferation cannot be ignored. How to reduce the deaths is up for debate, i'd ban them all if i could, but that aint happening.

So this is the new norm, you say there is going to be someone with a concealed that will stop a mass murder -i'll be waiting for that to happen.

It already has... I'll have to see if I can find the story. Dude came in expecting to shoot a bunch of people, two guys with CCW Permits pinned him down until the cops got there.

Not quite as "spectacular" a result so it didn't get quite the coverage, but it certainly does happen.
