No, people and companies decide to buy Treasurys, which are the national debt. I have indirectly bought a large amount of Treasurys through a mutual fund. It is very standard stuff.

Meanwhile debts to indigenous peoples are not being honored. Republicans, especially trump, are arguing that it is racist to pay indigenous people what they are owed.

Why should Greenlanders accept a debt that the debtor is claiming it is racist to have to pay?
