Far-Right Republicans Press Closer to Power Over Future Elections

The potential for far-right Republicans to reshape the election systems of major battleground states is growing much closer to reality.

As the halfway point nears of a midterm year that is vastly friendlier to Republicans, the party’s voters have nominated dozens of candidates for offices with power over the administration and certification of elections who have spread falsehoods about the 2020 presidential contest and sowed distrust in American democracy.

The only way to restore trust, these candidates say, is by electing them.

In Michigan, Pennsylvania and now Nevada, Republican voters have elevated candidates who owe their political rise to their amplification of doubts about Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory, and who are now vying in elections for governor, secretary of state and attorney general — offices that will hold significant sway over the administration of the 2024 presidential election in critical swing states.

This is why they have to keep the big lie going. It's a power grab while they pretend to care about voter integrity. I don't know what can be done about it. We know this SCOTUS won't fight it.

"And in Georgia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Texas — four competitive states that have already held primaries — 157 state legislators who took concrete steps to overturn or undermine the 2020 election will be on the ballot in November."

In a Monday podcast interview with Stephen K. Bannon, the former Trump adviser, Ms. Karamo made a series of false allegations about a “stolen” 2020 election in Michigan. Mark Finchem, a leading Republican candidate for secretary of state in Arizona who also appeared on the podcast, said the contest had been “stolen by a number of ways.”

“If we’re not successful” in November, Ms. Karamo told Mr. Bannon, “we’re going to lose our country.”

New England, New York, New Jersey, and Eastern Pennsylvania should be one nation.

Washington, Oregon, and California should be another.

The other states can decide for themselves whether they wish to be civilized or not.

The current republic is a dumpster fire well beyond preserving.

Our inane constitution created the most ridiculously inefficient government on the face of the earth, and now it can no longer sustain itself.

A real and immediate threat to our democracy.

The only solution I can see is that we increase our numbers in both houses then pack the courts. Well.. in order to do that we have to win national elections, and with the crooked Republican's fingers on the scale it's going to be an uphill climb.

Like Trump, these Republicans are openly corrupt.

What about travel between "countries"? Every vehicle coming out of Alabama we're going to have to check for guns and underage whores. We'll just have to build a wall and make them pay for it.

If I haven't told everyone all ready, I crack myself up.

I still have faith in most voters. Deep red states may tolerate this - but 1 election of clearly psychotic election officials overturning results at their whim won't sit well w/ most.

Jan. 6 Panel Says Capitol Marcher Toured With G.O.P. Congressman

WASHINGTON — A man who toured the Capitol complex with a Republican lawmaker the day before the Jan. 6, 2021, attack later marched on the building while making threats against Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other prominent Democrats, the House committee investigating the attack said on Wednesday.

The panel released surveillance video of a tour of parts of the Capitol complex conducted by Representative Barry Loudermilk, Republican of Georgia, a day before the violence. During the tour — which lasted several hours, despite the complex being closed to the public at the time — he is seen with the group entering three different office buildings and approaching the entrances to tunnels leading to the Capitol.

But, you know, besides the evidence, what does the Committee have?!
