We need more viable parties in America. Democrats & Republicans have failed, and are largely owned by the corporations now.

Why was Prop 8 overruled by the courts if it got a majority of votes?

The tyranny of the majority is also something that the founders tried to guard against. There is nothing "more democratic" about fostering a 2-party system. More parties would give more people a voice.

When people dislike their two choices as much as they do this election they will look for alternatives.

We did that over here, and replaced the Liberal Party with the Labour Party. The process of replacement gave the tories years of minority power, and after 1945 - 51 all the crooks swarmed into the Parliamentary Labour Party and turned it back into something just as crappy as the Liberals had been. They are now trying to replace the democratic replacement, Mr Corbyn, to preserve their own smelly careers. Two-party systems are well-built-in - they give the illusion of choice while preserving the basic system wholly unchanged.
