Explosion reported at Utah State University ahead of a TPUSA event tonight, after reports of an evacuation due to a bomb threat

The bomb the police planted blew up.

The police don't plant bombs, Wally.

It did not cause the "suspicious package" to blow up, because it was not a bomb.

It was a incompetently built bomb. It contained explosive material but bad fusing.

Someone left a backpack behind for some reason.

they blow it up.

Good. At least SOMEONE at the police department knows how to safely dispose of this.

If it does not add explosive to the explosion, like this time, the police know it was just a normal mistake.

They didn't add explosives, Wally. They just gave a proper fuse and safely detonated it. From the sound of the blast and it's size, I figure it was a low explosive...probably perchlorate based...which is why the dogs detected it.
