Exclusive: U.S. directs agents to cover up program used to investigate Americans

The facts just don't support the idea that the two major parties are equivalent. The Democrats have been far too quiet mainly due to Obama being in office and they don't deserve much credit for defending our liberty. But still, the majority voted for the Amash amendment. Meanwhile the majority of Republicans voted against it. Republicans are far and away the leading advocates of a surveillance state. They are also the primary proponents of the drug war and racially inspired attacks on civil liberties.

Libertarians should be making alliances with civil libertarian Democrats instead of bending over backwards to pretend that Republicans are no worse.

it's nearly the height of stupidity to dismiss the fact that both parties are equivalent. both parties aim to restrict or diminish the rights of the people. the only difference is the choice of rights each side has chosen to attack.

It is the height of arrogance to assume that the GOP is not more evil, simply because you too are conservative.

By the way, this is your major failing in life, and it is a very major failing.

my major failing is that I refuse to accept a lesser evil because it's still evil? oh my, what a failure. I guess those nazi troops really were just following orders then. :palm:

The unit of the DEA that distributes the information is called the Special Operations Division, or SOD. Two dozen partner agencies comprise the unit, including the FBI, CIA, NSA, Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Homeland Security. It was created in 1994 to combat Latin American drug cartels and has grown from several dozen employees to several hundred.

Today, much of the SOD's work is classified, and officials asked that its precise location in Virginia not be revealed. The documents reviewed by Reuters are marked "Law Enforcement Sensitive," a government categorization that is meant to keep them confidential.

"Remember that the utilization of SOD cannot be revealed or discussed in any investigative function," a document presented to agents reads. The document specifically directs agents to omit the SOD's involvement from investigative reports, affidavits, discussions with prosecutors and courtroom testimony. Agents are instructed to then use "normal investigative techniques to recreate the information provided by SOD."

You can imagine WHY this method is being used.

You can also imagine we can make them STOP using this method.

Yeah drug informants will lose their lives and we will have FEWER informants coming forward BUT this method is just too scary.

BTW guys do you think Obama CREATED this method personally?

Grow up

No shit fer brains, your major failing is allying yourself with the GOP instead of helping libertarianism spread across the political spectrum.
Every time you spout off conservatard bullshit instead of pure libertarian ideals, you risk disuading potential libertarians from taking the movement seriously.

This is exactly what Prof. Baxter was alluding to in the post of his which I quoted.

and professor baxter is a moron if he thinks he knows I vote GOP. I urge Libertarians (and independents) to vote Libertarian by showing them exactly what I posted about, that both dems and repubs infringe on rights and freedom.
