Also, when President Obama took office in 2009, the unemployment rate was 7.8% and it was 4.8% when he left office in 2017.

Nice try but 8 years of less than 3% GDP growth per year is not a slow recovery it is bad economic policies. I would expect an "educated" man such as yourself would know that.
Monopolies are the reason for slow growth, small businesses are usually the ones that bring new ideas and growth to the economy.
Big businesses are also holding onto their cash or giving it to shareholders instead of investing it in new innovations or research.
