White Americans – 63.7% (59.9% non-Hispanic white, 4.5% White Hispanic)
Black or African American – 32.4%
Asian – 1.7%
Multiracial American – 1.4%
Native American – 0.7%

The major ancestry groups of Louisiana are French (16.8%), American (9.5%), German (8.3%), Irish (7.5%), English (6.6%), Italian (4.8%) and Scottish (1.1%).[68]
As of 2011, 49.0% of Louisiana's population younger than age 1 were minorities (note: children born to white Hispanics are counted as minority group).[69]
