Evangelicals: God Sent Trump to be King

I think that there'll never be much agreement about Christianity while people keep believing in something called 'the Bible' as a unity. It is in fact a lot of texts from different dates with different purposes. The Old Testament is only there because of the prophecies, because the early Church was Jewish and striving for Jewish people as converts. Trinitarian ideas are most prevalent in Paul, the Roman citizen, who was accustomed to the idea of humans being or becoming gods, and who wanted desperately to keep the Roman authorities on side. 'Revelations', I think, was a desperately anti-Roman diatribe of which we lack the key. The whole thing has been carefully 'interpreted' to keep the very rich and powerful happy, against all rational reading of the Gospels. All in all, the only safe thing is to stick to what Jesus is recording as saying, examined with a keen awareness of bits that may have been put in later.

Apocalyptic literature was very popular for about 300 years. I think Revelation's symbolism was well understood by first Century Jews and we can understand it better if we learn something about first century history..

A generation is 40 years.. Like the Israelites wandered in the desert for a generation (40 years).. and most certainly the destruction of the Temple and the Fall of Massada was the end of their world.

This is from the OP link:

"I believe the 45th president is meant to be an Isaiah 45 Cyrus [who will] restore … us from cultural collapse."

"Restore?"

Looks to me like he is CAUSING it.

Are you familiar with Darby and Scofield? Those beliefs have only been around since the 1830s.

Has nothing to do with "feminism"

Paul died in 68 AD before the destruction of the Temple .

The Apostle Paul wrote the letter to the Thessalonians about 52-54 A.D. and it was one of his earliest written letters.

Its easy to forget that Jesus was an observant Jew his whole life.

Still curious as to what denomination you are affiliated with. Then too, I have heard of these types of beliefs before usually based on the teachings of the "Gospel of Thomas", or some similar doctrine. But tell me, have you ever heard of the Biblical doctrine for studying the word of God? It is called "precept upon precept, line upon line".

Now, in following that Biblical precept, the New Earth would have no seas. Is that the case" No disease? No death? Are any of those conditions present in your "New Earth"?

Now, you say that the Tribulation Period ended with the destruction of Masada. Tell me who the anti-Christ was? Who was the Dragon to whom all pledged allegiance? What conditions were present at that time as prophecied by Christ?

No, you can keep your false beliefs just as you can your false hope in feminism (and feminism is an antiChrist belief).

Matthew 24: 15-31

“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. (Masada???)

“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time.

“So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. (Masada???) Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

“Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other." (After Masada???)

Again, line upon line, precept upon precept.

Nero was the anti-Christ and the beast from the Sea.

The original language... the name “Domitianou” instead of “Domitianikos”. Domitianou actually refers to Nero. Even on One of Nero’s names includes the name “Domitius” which is close to Domitian.

A form of the word preter occurs the Latin Bible at Matt. 24:34 where Jesus told the disciples non preateribit haec generatio donec omnia haec fiant - “this generation shall not pass away till all these things be fulfilled.”

Jesus said he would return within the lives of first disciples (Matt. 16:27, 28; Mk. 8:38; 9:1), before they could evangelize all the cities of Israel (Matt. 10:23), and before the generation of those then living passed away (Matt. 24:34; Mk. 13:30; Lk. 21:32).

Hebrews says that it was a “very little while” (Gk. mikron ‘oson ‘oson) and Christ would come (Heb. 10:37).

James said the “coming of the Lord draweth nigh;” it was “at the door” (James 5:8, 9). Peter said the end was “at hand” (I Pet. 4:7).

John said it was the “last hour” (I Jn. 2:18). Revelation attests that the events it describes were “at hand” and would “shortly come to pass” (Rev. 1:2, 3; 22:6, 10, 12).

There are armies portrayed in Revelation vis-à-vis the Roman war against the Jews (Rev. 9; 17:16) and the Roman civil wars, or “year of four emperors” (Rev. 16:10).

But, the kingdom of the saints is not an earthly nation; there is no nation on earth consisting exclusively or, even perhaps predominately, of Christians. Any war against the saints can only be directed against the church and gospel, and therefore can only have happened during in a persecution or inquisition.

and when are you saying he returned?.....

did the Episcopalians tell you about the Pentecost?.....

The Christian holiday of Pentecost, which is celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31).

So now you are saying Christ has already returned, His kingdom is here, etc.

I don't have the time to, nor the desire, to point out all of the errors in your false theology. Tell Jesus Hi for me next time you see Him.

you are nearly as relevant as Sheldon Cooper's Fun With Flags podcast.......but less interesting.......

Actually yes... Revelation is very specific as to when it will take place.. and of the four interpretations .. Historist, futurist and preterist.. Preterist comes closest.

It has been popular since the Depression and the Dust Bowl years to teach futurist.

The book of Revelation does not begin in the way the pseudepigraphal Book of Enoch begins, with a statement to the effect that the content is not for the present generation, but for a remote generation that is still to come.

God advises us to submit to “governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established” (Romans 13:1).

We are further advised in the Bible that rebelling against authority is rebelling against God (Romans 13:2).

“Slaves, submit yourselves to your master with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.” (1 Peter 2:18)

Seems odd that God would pick a 3 time married, serial adulterer with a foul mouth and a talent for being a conman for president. That says a lot about god. Or does it say something about believers? What the hell is wrong with you people?
