In near unanimous vote, European lawmakers call for Russia to be declared a "terrorist" regime

An assembly of representatives drawn from 46 national parliaments across Europe voted overwhelmingly in favor on Thursday for a resolution calling on European countries to “declare the current Russian regime as a terrorist one.”

The resolution read:

“The continued use of long-range artillery by the Russian military to hit towns and cities across Ukraine has caused massive destruction and death,” the resolution said. “With these indiscriminate attacks, Russia aims to advance its terrorist policy to suppress the will of Ukrainians to resist and defend their country and provoke maximum harm to civilians.”

The resolution called on Russia to “completely and unconditionally withdraw its occupying forces.”

UN Envoy: Rape Used as Part of Russian 'Military Strategy' in Ukraine

Rapes and sexual assaults attributed to Moscow's forces in Ukraine are part of a Russian "military strategy" and a "deliberate tactic to dehumanize the victims," UN envoy Pramila Patten told AFP in an interview on Thursday.

"All the indications are there," the UN special representative on sexual violence told AFP, when asked if rape was being used as a weapon of war in Ukraine.

"When women are held for days and raped, when you start to rape little boys and men, when you see a series of genital mutilations, when you hear women testify about Russian soldiers equipped with Viagra, it's clearly a military strategy," she said.

"And when the victims report what was said during the rapes, it is clearly a deliberate tactic to dehumanize the victims."

That might be part of the reason Annatta fell off the map. He spent so many years running cover for Putin it became morally indefensible to continue to do so. That the last eight months just made him reflect on what a dupe he had been.

For me, he didn't give off the faintest whiff of being Russian. Unfortunately, America is chock full of MAGA who are in the thrall of authoritarian Christian nationalist leadership, and Putin and Trump are the preeminent models for them.

Why has the UN, for the most part, mostly found war crimes, systematic rape, civilian execution and torture, and widespread sexual assault by the forces of your hero Vlad Putin? Whatever violations of the rules of war committed by Ukraine are much less.

Pseudo-patriotic bugling. Ukraine hasn't been investigated. Maybe the UN could start with the burning alive of pro-Russian Ukrainian trade unionists by the Azov Nazi mob in 2014.
