Eric Holder: Feds Will Crack Down On Marijuana If Prop. 19 Passes

The nation's top federal law enforcement official said the Obama administration would "vigorously enforce" drug laws against people who grow, distribute or sell marijuana for recreational use even if California voters pass a measure to legalize it.

U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr., in a letter sent Wednesday to nine former chiefs of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, wrote, "Let me state clearly that the Department of Justice strongly opposes Proposition 19. If passed, this legislation will greatly complicate federal drug enforcement efforts to the detriment of our citizens."

Possession and sales of marijuana are illegal under the federal Controlled Substances Act. In his letter, Holder wrote: "We will vigorously enforce the CSA against those individuals and organizations that possess, manufacture or distribute marijuana for recreational use, even if such activities are permitted under state law."

Dale Sky Jones, a spokeswoman for the Prop. 19 campaign, said the federal government is continuing to enforce "a failed policy."

The point (not the one on top of your head) was that the anti war loud mouths and nutty protesters have for the most part disapeared in spite of Obama's increased aggression...

The logs show that a ‘Jodie Evans’ met with Buffy Wicks, the Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement (OPE) on June 19, 2009. The meeting came just days after Evans’ group, Code Pink, visited the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza from May 28th to June 14th and was given a letter by Hamas to deliver to President Barack Obama.

None of that changes the fact that Code Pink is out protesting the wars & other Obama policies pretty much every week. I don't agree with them all of the time, or their methods, but they have more integrity in their pinkie than someone who is constantly apologizing for "their party" (a.ka. - you), will ever understand...

teh prohibition on marijuana is a blight on this country

what pisses me off are the dem presidents who have smoked it, pretend to be somewhat for weed....then get in office and want to keep cracking down on it....its all about money and power folks...if weed becomes legal the feds THINK they will lose money, but that is false, and the power....its just one more thing they can control and put us in prison for
