9% of the vote tally is nothing. Erdogan was behind in polling for weeks, and Putin's deep fake videos were exposed. Turkish citizens have had enough of Erdogan, and are eager to embrace the West over Putin.

It will be interesting to watch as the numbers come in.

His party lost its majority in parliament for several months in a 2015 vote, and then months later, in 2016, Turkey witnessed its first violent attempted coup for decades.

Rebel soldiers came close to capturing the president, holidaying at a coastal resort, but he was airlifted to safety. In the early hours of 16 July, he emerged triumphant at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, to the cheers of supporters. Almost 300 civilians were killed as they blocked the advance of the coup plotters.

Like I said, there haven’t been any serious issues under him.

To understand this statement you have to understand the culture over there and it isn’t American culture, it’s very different.

You folks see an issue and put it through an American viewpoint when to them it’s simply a normal thing

A coup attempt is a serious issue. Hard to take you seriously.

Not in Turkey which is why he’s leading lol

Turkey isn’t unified like the US, it’s divided into factions who all have their separate goals.

One tiny faction wanted to remove him from power but the rest didn’t

The faction against him wants Turkey to withdraw from NATO and be completely sovereign which is against what most people in Turkey want
