Equifax data leak may affect nearly half the US population

Business Here comes the class action lawsuit after Equifax’s massive hack

Yesterday, Equifax announced that a hacker obtained information about 143 million consumers. This data included Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses and, in some cases, driver license numbers. Equifax customers are obviously really, really mad. So it’s not surprising that Bloomberg discovered that a class action lawsuit was filed against Equifax.

Hacks have become quite normal these days. But it’s a bit different with Equifax, as the company has a ton of personal information about you. You don’t want anyone to access your Social Security number or your credit card history.

According to Bloomberg, the lawsuit was filed in Portland, Oregon. Customers say that Equifax has been negligent when it comes to information security. Two firms are leading the class action lawsuit, Olsen Daines PC and Geragos & Geragos. They’re asking for billions in damages.

But this isn’t your average class action lawsuit. As Equifax discovered the hack in July, the company had plenty of time to prepare itself for the aftermath.

In particular, users can check if their information has been compromised by going to equifaxsecurity2017.com. You have to enter some personal information. In some cases, Equifax tells you to sign up to TrustedID Premier, an Equifax service. And if you look at the terms of services of TrustedID Premier, it says you can’t participate in a class action

There's a line in the new Equifax fine print that's raising eyebrows

What really pisses me off is that we don't give them our info.. If I go to target & use my card I am giving them my info, hotel etc........

These MF's not only take are info w/out our permission they get it stolen to?? OFF WITH THEIR HEADS.......:(

The US economy would collapse without credit cards though.

This is capitalism at it's finest.

No one company should have that much data on individuals in America.

One company can destroy hundreds of millions of peoples lives...........thanks to greed.

its a credit reporting agency......what good is a credit reporting agency if they don't have info on people's credit......

SHUT YOUR FATASSED LYING BITCH MOUTH..

YOU GET ME THE ADDRESS BITCH OR JUST STFU....

It's greed that credit companies exist? Would we be a less greedy country if we used cash only?

Be a country that is a lot less broke and in debt, that is for sure.

I'd argue we wouldn't be a country. We wouldn't have survived without the ability to raise debt. We couldn't have fought any wars and we couldn't have grown we couldn't have done anything.

TTQ64 has almost no understanding of how markets function.

Debt used wisely with a plan to pay it back is one thing. Do not forget World War 2 was 75% paid for with war bonds, not borrowing. Unfortunately this country has forgot the "pay it back" part and it is starting to reach a point where it will overwhelm our entire economy. So while I agree with your premise in part, the implementation has gone far, far awry.

Ok, but she's arguing having credit companies is strictly greed. How many people would be home owners with no debt? How many people would own cars? How would we have paid for the revolution or civil war?

Businesses used debt to grow. Yes it can be overdone but arguing that capitalism is flawed and greedy because debt is available is an argument a socialist would make

CA, I looked at this thread, saw this one post of yours "It's greed that credit companies exist? Would we be a less greedy country if we used cash only? " and answered it. I am guilty of not having read anything else on this thread.

you need to read her response to know what I was responding to

Lots of times these ppl are in other countries..

Do you really think that would be a deterrent??

The real sad part IMHO is just how open this is..

They hack & steal & then sell your credit info on line & even morons lacking any skills can buy it for a few bucks, buy a card maker on Ebay & go shopping.. wtf:mad:

Well, then, that makes them susceptible to extreme rendition.

Since you made such a claim about the conditions where I live, the only way you could do so is to already know the location. That leaves us with two possibilities: You either lied when you made the claim or you're too much of a pussy to show where you already know the location. Neither one looks good for you.

You live in squalor. Now shut the fuck up, you faggot.

man its good to see you righties talki g about debt as a tool.

Debt is not inherenty bad huh

think about that

the thing that annoys me the most about credit agencies is that they literally affect every aspect of your life and no one is quite sure how they come up with your score.

You would think that for something this important 100% transparency would be a must.

Dude, they are easy to figure out. Spend less than you make, and pay your bills on time. I pay my CC bills two weeks ahead of time, and now my score is 850.
