One attempts to make money by hoping that people will come in and buy more stuff if the gas is cheaper, the other hopes that the higher profit in fuel will make up for the loss of in-store sales. There is also quality of product. Does the company selling the gasoline offer a better product? For instance, a mom and pop shop usually won't have cleansing additives...
