In my interview with his mother, Mamie Till several years ago before she died, she told me something I did not know. Emmett had asthma. She taught him to whistle when he felt an attack coming on because it calmed him down enough for him to breathe properly.

He was just a boy .. killed because he was black.

This is interesting as there are obviously conflicting stories. I had heard he whistled to stop a stutter problem. I had also heard that the boys he was hanging with had challenged/dared him to talk to a 'white woman'. Regardless, his murder was premeditated. They planned and brutally executed the kid. Whether it was for whistling or talking, they should have been put down for what they did to him. But the jury ignored the evidence in the case.

If you could show me the progress from trying to communicate, I could see your point.

I've kept an open ear to communication as along as I've been on this board. I'm not a partisan, and I've had good communication with people beyond the considered left. But I've reached the end of my rope. The vast majority that support the racist murder of a child are republicans .. people I used to call 'brother.'

To quote your line .. I'm done.

I've been quite hard on democrats .. really hard on Obama. I've resisted the notion that him being black made any more special than anyone else. I've resisted the thought of 'greater evil.'

That's over. There is a greater evil .. and it wants my children dead.

I will continue to vote for and support 3rd parties .. unless it may cause the election of a republican .. at which point I'll vote for the democrat.

Time for communication has past. Now it's time to act responsibly to a greater evil that wants my children dead.

If the alienation of black people is what republicans want, they've done a spectacular job of achieving it.

You have done nothing but post laughing about Martin "getting what was coming to him" and how you were going to dance and celebrate when the hero Zimmerman got off, and how Martin was a fucking druggie because of trace amounts of pot (this from a guy who BRAGS about his peanut butter and pot baked cracker), and how you were glad Martin was where he belonged.
