Elise Stefanik eyes crackdown on colleges' federal dollars amid campus antisemitism probe

House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik is looking at ways to leverage U.S. taxpayer dollars going to colleges and universities to ensure they crack down on antisemitic incidents on campus.

"You have to deliver accountability," Stefanik, R-N.Y., told Fox News Digital. "Legislatively, there’s a number of avenues that I’m looking at."

Stefanik was among a group of lawmakers who heard from Jewish college students at a Thursday roundtable, led by House Education and Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx, R-N.C., where the young adults recalled instances of feeling threatened and being confronted with profanity just because of their Jewish identity.

It is part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into antisemitism on campus, which has already precipitated the departures of presidents at two major Ivy League schools — Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania.

The New York Republican suggested she’s looking at possibly introducing legislation that would help improve the safety of Jewish students on campus as well, specifically targeting federal funds, foreign funding and offices of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

"Number one, U.S. taxpayer funding for these institutions — U.S. taxpayers do not want to prop up this moral rot of antisemitism, and we have to make sure that that is not the case," Stefanik said. "Foreign funding as well, there is not full transparency in terms of foreign funding and strings that are attached to that foreign funding. This is a major issue on these college campuses."

She also listed "the elimination of the offices of DEI," calling DEI "inherently antisemitic."...
====================

Colleges and Universities that allow antisemitism or racism openly on their campuses should not receive any Federal money including Student loan guarantees. The taxpayers should not be forced to pay for tolerating those forms of hate.

Antisemitism is not suffering from a lack of platforms. It is spoken to on TV, online, in schools and in Congress. The problem is hate is taught in the home. Hating Jews and racism is not something you would learn if you lived in an open-minded society. We have one that tolerates hate. The parents teach hate. Society cannot overcome that. Teaching racism young and repeating it day after day is a win for hate.

The thread is about antisemitism, Nordy, not racism.

There are 4 billion threads about racism.

Jewish students are being harassed and threatened at colleges by far left Democratic Socialist students and faculty, all across America and in the streets, Nordy.

This is unacceptable, right?

This constant connection between opposition to Israeli conduct in Gaza and antisemitism is idiotic and given who it is coming from is probably fueled by people accustomed to dispensing bigotry themselves.

No it is not, the thread is about Stefanik trying to make herself relevant, she’s not

How in the hell is she going to determine that one school did something another didn’t, let alone with hold tax dollars, which by the way primarily goes to the students not the schools.

It is all just to spread innuendo, which explains why Fox covered it. It is no coincidence her committee zeroed in on Ivy League schools, lot of dog whistles there for the Fox faithful

Jewish students deserve an environment where they do not have to fear for their safety.

It is about hate. The tactics that produce haters of Jews are the same ones that produce racists. The incidents in colleges are not common.

Dog whistles? It’s well documented Ivy League schools discriminate against Asians and Jews for admittance. I don’t even have to mention the discrimination against whites. Unless they’re legacy of course.

Too bad the Republican congress hadn't passed one dime of aid to help Ukraine resist the most dangerous threat of tyranny in our generation
