E-bike fires killed 19 people

Wonder what the stories were on cars when the combustion engines started replacing horses

The dangers are obvious. Stores of gasoline in the hands of people interested primarily in profit would constitute a fire and explosive hazard of the first rank. Horseless carriages propelled by gasoline might attain speeds of 14 or even 20 miles per hour. The menace to our people of vehicles of this type hurtling through our streets and along our roads and poisoning the atmosphere would call for prompt legislative action even if the military and economic implications were not so overwhelming… [T]he cost of producing [gasoline] is far beyond the financial capacity of private industry… In addition the development of this new power may displace the use of horses, which would wreck our agriculture.

How interesting. Lets see what problems were raised:

Gasoline is dangerous and a fire hazard.

Your tu quoque doesn't change that e-bikes are dangerous fire hazards.

There are hundreds of eBike manufacturers who have popped up in the last few years and no regulations or standards on how to build them to avoid problems like fire.

Just as with the early cell phone days when fires were more common and then certain standards were required and fire risk went way down.

Seems the supposedly "eco-friendly" e-bike is really just another potential death trap. 19 people have been killed by e-bikes exploding in flames in the last year alone. Another greentard disaster brought to you by the retards on the radical Left...

E-bike batteries raise safety concerns amid rise in fires: 'Very hard to examine'
Fire or overheating incidents from these devices led to 19 fatalities in 2022.

Of course, those are just the deaths. On average, in New York City alone an average of four e-bikes a week spontaneously ignite with many of these causing injuries, if not a death. Never saw that with motor scooters...

Fires from exploding e-bike batteries multiply in NYC — sometimes fatally

Included in that were two houses that burned, along with several apartment buildings where e-bike owners had theirs indoors in either a garage or their apartment. As these greentard timebombs multiply, they are becoming a serious threat to property and lives.

I guess a greentard would tell you that you have to break some eggs to make an omelet or something...

Your title is incomplete. You should have added, "...and Joe Capitalist pisses his pants"

From your NPR link.....

Many, if not most, of the fires in New York involve e-bike batteries owned by restaurant delivery workers, who work long shifts, traveling dozens of miles a day.

"The bikes tend to get beat up, subjected to the elements," Flynn said. "They're not really made for our streets."

The longer the batteries are used, the more time it takes to fully recharge them, and it can take up to 8 hours. That in turn makes it harder for owners to keep on eye on their batteries the whole time they are plugged in, which is key for safety.

You're making it sound like they just spontaneously combust sitting there.

They only catch fire after over use or while charging.

For the average user, having the common damned sense to not leave them unattended while they're charging and other things like making sure the charger you're using was made for your bike or scooter, should result in no problems.

But then again, that doesn't play into your environmentalist-hating, bullshit propaganda agenda.

Oh, I like that there.
Lithium batteries are dangerous. An LG phone burnt the crap out of a relative's kitchen countertop.
I had to throw this old Dell laptop out the front door one day. It was hot AF. It was the same model as all the ones they gave to
students that kept catching fire in their bookbags a good while back.
Idk even how I landed here, but that was a good read.

2022 was three years ago.....is there more up to date info and if not why not?
I just came across that article mason posted in The Saturday Evening Post and liked it.
You see that battery explode on the Hong Kong guy in the elevator? That was bad. :(
Do not get Lithium wet.

Backyard barbeques are dangerous fire hazards too, dumbass.

My issue here is a current pet peeve.....the degree to which basic info in this society tends to be non existent, old, or wrong.....which I doubt is simply sloppiness though if it was that would be bad enough. I suspect that this is a part of an organized effort to keep people confused, trying to get us to believe what the self appointed overlords tell us to believe, even as we know that they constantly lie to us.

Clearly, you are the dumbass. You try a trivial objections fallacy using a false equivalence. Look at the bottom of that FEMA notice. Three out of four of the reasons given are for misuse and stupidity. The fourth is a mix of misuse, stupidity, and possibly--minorly possibly--equipment being defective. Of course, it's far more likely that the equipment wasn't properly maintained and inspected before use.

That's different from E-bikes where the design is defective and hazardous.

Okay. And-? :dunno:

And 2022 bike battery fire deaths data is inferior, I would like 2024 numbers, and if that is too much to ask for then I would like it explained to me why that is such a big ask.
Many go unreported, shithead. There's a reason lithium batteries are classified the same as gunpowder when shipping, dumbass.
Hazardous materials. It is what it is. :dunno:
Now research what happens with flooded EVs.
I have both 'round heanh. Probably should build a shed just for things like that.
