A former drone operator who helped kill 1,626 targets says he's haunted by the carnage he witnessed from behind his computer screen.
Brandon Bryant, 27, served as a drone operator from 2006 to 2011 at bases in Nevada, New Mexico and Iraq. It was a desk job of sorts, but unlike any other, it involved ordering unmanned aircraft to kill faraway targets while he watched.

In an interview with NBC News' foreign correspondent Richard Engel, Bryant recalled one operation where his team fired two missiles from a drone at three men in Afghanistan.

Drones are neither left or right.
The use of them is something that needs to be very carefully considered.

I am left and I don't support it.
You can reseach my opposition to drones on this site.

I am ambivalent on the subject, I think that it is good that control has been taken from the CIA and handed over to the military. The Taliban are just waiting for the military to pull out of Afghanistan and take over again, so what other sanctions does the West have against them?

The number two in the Pakistan Taliban was taken out the other day, did you notice that there was absolutely no protests from the Pakistani government about that. In fact I am certain that they provided the intelligence in the first place.

No, because people don't really care about innocent life.

If Bush were in office, this thread might go 30 pages long.

That's politics, not caring for innocent life.

The Taliban of course do not feel any need to trifle with concepts like preventing civilians and children being killed by their actions. In fact they often ensure that they are in the way so that it can be used as propaganda, it wasn't just Stalin who had his useful idiots.

Well, if The Taliban does it, then we should definitely follow suit.

Your ambivalence may dissipate when drones strikes begin in your neighborhood.
