We just had an election that you lost by 10,000,000 votes in total in the House.
Trump lost the popular vote by 3,000,000.
Whether or not a trial happens in the Senate is meaningless...it's a lose-lose for Conservatism because impeachment in the House will drive Trump insane, and McConnell's inaction will make the 2020 election a referendum on Conservative governance in the Senate and White House.
You won't win that election if that's the case. You will lose by the same massive margins you lost by last November.

Dems are the majority in the country. More registered Democrats than Republicans.
Secondly, whether or not they want impeachment doesn't matter because it's Congress' duty to proceed with impeachment.
Impeachment will bring out all of the Conservatives' worst instincts and judgment, and Trump will blow up the GOP for not doing enough to spare him the embarrassment of having to defend his criminal actions.

They will have to wait and see with hope in their eyes while being in the minority seeking impeachment of the president.

Only a minority of people supported impeaching Nixon at first too...then it grew once the impeachment proceedings started and Nixon and his allies were forced to defend their criminal activity.

Impeachment in the House is going to happen; it's just a matter of time now.

Not yet.
Once impeachment proceedings start, that number will grow as Conservatives will be forced to defend the criminal activity of the President they support 100%.
