may 5 2023 No child enjoys homework, tests, or the hours one must put in to do well on both. But these tasks are vital to education — and not just for academic reasons. It is through the mundane work of learning that children learn self-discipline and, more importantly, the lesson that success is not given, but earned.

Small wonder, then, that educators are now doing away with these tools. Self-discipline is just another form of white supremacy, according to the Left, as is the idea that people must actually work for what they want. Thus, testing, grades, and any other form of academic rigor are being discarded as outdated symptoms of systemic racism.

Several school districts nationwide have embraced this move toward “equitable grading,” a system in which students are expected to learn classroom material without ever being rewarded for it or penalized if they fail to do so. Under this new model, homework is assigned but not emphasized, according to the Wall Street Journal, and tests come with multiple retake opportunities — that is, if they are given at all. And behavior, including attendance, is no longer a factor in a student’s final grade because it has “nothing to do with whether they can write a competent, argumentative essay,” according to Tanya Kuhnee, a teacher-support specialist who helped implement equitable grading in Albuquerque, New Mexico

“Classrooms are pressure cookers,” said Joe Feldman, the pioneer of equitable learning. “[Students are] now able to relax, say, ‘I can have a bad day,’ and spend more time on things. It changes the way the classroom feels.”

Too funny, with close to 14,000 school districts in America this one ^ thinks a dozen doing something he don’t like means something

If just ONE school district announced a sensible policy like not allowing blacks in their schools , you white-hating racist libs would be screaming.

Schools really have no choice but to use affirmative action grading. The state demands kids be in school and if all the kids were graded the same way, the negroz would never get past 4th grade.!!

Why universal school choice must be achieved.

Maybe but i think we need to ask if we need schools. Elementary schools i can see. But HSs and colleges i don't. Kids can use books and the net to teach themselves. Give the kid a book and tell him when to show up for the test.

Its a guaranteed inability for kids so treated to never get a good job (or a job at all).
If employer sees that kid went to XX High School that practices this there is zero incentive to hire.

To graduate from HS you should be required to take the SAT and get 500+ on both sections.

wouldn't work. there are two curriculums one for college prep and the other for not.
the nots would not be sufficiently educated.

they have standards for each grade already which are fine.
what it NOT fine is advancing kids that do not pass.
this happens all the time.
if kids don't pass, one repeat year. still no ? gone, on your own and no welfare.
