Double standard regarding Obama SCOTUS nomination.

Don't someone actually say a president CAN'T fill a SC vacancy in his last term......??? C A N ' T ?

Even Biden didn't say 'can't'.....he said shouldn't......

The president should follow the example of “a majority of his predecessors” and delay naming a replacement, Mr. Biden said. If he goes forward before then, the Senate should wait to consider the nomination.

Those on the right know just how you feel....they've been the victims of the double standard for some years now.....Hillary's emails prove that, in spades....

If Justice Kenniedy wasn't a liberal, he never would have been confirmed in 1988......

All Obama has to do is nominate a conservative and he'll get the vote he wants.......

The guy he nominated is moderate & not a judicial activist.

McConnell will be making a mistake not confirming him. Or at least taking a big risk.

ugh

the electorate does not care about judicial nominations.

we are political junkies. The vast majority of the population doesn't even know what's going on with regards to this.

It will be as close to a non-issue as possible in this election

The 2nd Amendment is settled law for over 200 years and Obama's nominee don't seem to know it.....that alone is enough to not even consider him.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I mean for the most part I agree with you but there are definitely a number of political activists out there who this issue is very important too.

yes, political activists, the hardcore types. Most of the mouth breathers in this nation aren't going to be concerned by it. Look at all the top issues of the election - economy/jobs, healthcare, education, immigration, foreign policy, racial/class equality... judicial nominations doesn't even hit the top ten. it's no where.

I don't know about that Grind.

Yesterday the NRA reported a claim from a right wing blog, later proven false, that Merrick Garland judged against the Heller decision while on the DC court of appeals (He voted to have the whole court of appeals rule on the case and then voted to uphold Heller).

My point being is every gun slinging red neck I know in the last day has told me what a horrible nomination Garland is because he's going to over turn the Heller decision.

These are not the kind of folk who fact check and it doesn't matter that the original article posted by the NRA was a lie. What matters is they immeadiatly believed it and were appalled.

See what I mean Grind? Just a few seconds of fact checking on Garland would have proven otherwise but the NRA told good ole Nova here what he wanted to believe and he believes it. LOL

You're right to a certain degree but that doesn't change the fact that special interest groups from both sides will be all over this and it will be a campaign issue.

Not the kind of risk I'm talking about.

At least today, they have a chance to replace Scalia w/ a moderate. Come next January, their only choice might be a real liberal.
