Double Mormon Ticket...

I just re-read the OP. I really don't get how anyone see bigotry in it.

This is a political message board. Romney's Mormonism IS a part of this campaign, like it or not - just as Catholic candidates receive extra scrutiny & discussion, and certainly any Muslim candidates would. What Jarod brought up would be discussed if that scenario played out. I don't see at all how it is bigoted to bring that up for discussion.

All I know is, hardly all we talked about during the 08 primary was how much and with whom being a woman would hurt Hillary, and how much and with whom being black would hurt Obama.

So...

I just don't see it as being bigoted, it's a part of American culture. You can't pretend it's not there.

FUCK

Now... do tell me, how is it you can tell if I said that while laughing, angry, etc...? You are not observing behavior. You are reading words on a computer screen. You are the ones injecting the particular emotion into it. I think the fact that I type swear words a lot or call him a retard etc... is why you prescribe 'anger' etc... because that is the circumstance that you would do so (though you wouldn't use retard specifically).

Bingo, the same can be said of Jarod, you can not tell if he was trying to generate discussion or being a bigot. I just see him trying to generate discussion.

They aren't any more goofy than Jews and Christians believing that Talking Bushes demand you take off your shoes and send you to Egypt to insult the Pharaoh. Weird is weird. If such a God exists, I can't see why he wouldn't do that... I don't understand why believing that an Angel showed you where some gold tablets are and gave you a holy translation devise is any stranger than that...

Basically, they aren't any more silly than other religions, there is no reason to single them out as "more strange"... (Scientology excepted, they are strange ;) ).

It's what they believe, they are not just welcome to it, they don't deserve my disrespect for it.

The part that is weird, getting your own planet, having your own "people", being gods and goddesses!

I respect people I know, but people I don't know, I will tell them why I feel they are being fooled.

Yet no one can say what the discussion was to be about?

If he wanted to discuss the effects of Mormons on a ticket he could have started a thread on it. Instead he brought up the equivalent of Obama ate dog meat as a kid... discuss how that will affect the election. There is no double Mormon ticket if Rubio runs with Romney and it is absurd to pretend otherwise.

Well, someone made it news, someone thought it might be an issue, otherwise, it would have never been brought up for Jarod to find it and is discuss.

I googled Rubio Mormon, there are ten pages on the subject, plus one paper, the Miami Herald brought up the fact that he also attends a Baptist church because he likes the pastors sermon. The Herald thinks he is trying to cover all his bases! His office says it is a journey.
Well, someone made it news, someone thought it might be an issue, otherwise, it would have never been brought up for Jarod to find it and is cuss it here.

Very likely, but I also have done nothing to let them know. They don't keep track like the Mormons apparently do. When I went to college, I simply stopped going. Since it was a new parish, they wouldn't know. The point of this is that Jarod started a stupid fucking thread on a 'double Mormon' ticket because he wanted to bash those who do have faith. His normal schtick on this is to say 'oh, Romney a mormon, those evangelicals will never vote for one of those'... only he wished to create the 'double' ticket so he could really hammer away. So he lied. Rubio is a Catholic. He has been since he was a teen. It matters not what the Mormon church believes, it matters what Rubio believes. But Jarod doesn't care about that. He just wanted to instigate another attack thread.

The fact that you and others continue to support Jarod's stupidity, only enables him. Don't be an enabler.

Taking another viewpoint doesn't translate to supporting what you call stupidity. I see the Mormon-Mormon thing as being strictly political and the type of thing that's done no matter who's running or what the religion. I recall people saying Obama picked Biden because he'd help get the Catholic vote. Politicians want all their bases covered. They know there's a segment of the electorate, like Christian fundamentalists that would be put off by a Mormon, so it would be political suicide to run two on the top ticket.

You should go back to the third grade, try to learn reading comprehension... I never said that I belive Rubio to be a Mormon, it matters to some people what the Mormon Church belives. Additionally Rubio is Catholic and many evangelicals have a problem with Catholics.

Your last sentence is spot on. Many years ago I attended a bible study where the majority were evangelicals and they used to call Catholicism a cult and the Pope a cult leader.

Seriously Jarod... out of anyone on the board, you of all people should not be attempting to mock someone's education level. You are a fool. Period. Your OP was trying to push that there could be a double Mormon ticket. Why would you say that if not to try and pretend Rubio was a Mormon? Why did you even bring it up Jarod? No one cares that he was baptized a Mormon as a young kid. The fact that he has been Catholic most of his life is known and accepted. So why would you bring it up Jarod? It is meaningless.

I disagree. It sure as heck mattered to a lot of people who believed Obama was and is still a Muslim by virtue of his father, never mind that he chose to be baptized in a christian church and attended it for decades. Just because sophisticated people like us ;) wouldn't hold someone's religion against them doesn't mean there isn't a segment of the electorate who would.

Just a different form of Heaven. I think it is more strange to believe that singing perpetual Hosannas to God will fill up your Eternity with bliss. At least the Mormons give you a job.

Oooohhhhh, a sap, thems fighting words. I would have gone with enabler, like Damo did, far less offensive. There will be people, who when they hear Rubio was a Mormon turned Catholic, that won't vote or him. They like their Presidents to be WAP?

If Rubio gets tapped his life is going to be turned inside out and you know someone will dig up his Mormon baptism to club him with.

He brings forth a topic for discussion and you rush in to call him a bigot. I thought discussion is what this board is about. I seriously don't read Jarod as a bigot. I think you are hyper sensitive about him for some unknown reason.

They're always hyper sensitive about Jarod.

Ha, that's the one I have a problem with, too.

scientology is not a religion it is a philosophy

also, it was started as a result of a bet during a poker game

hubbard was part of a poker group and the subject of religion came up - he made a bet that he could start a legal church based on his book dianetics and get tax exempt status - he won the bet
