I thought conservatives supported the actions of state and local officials more so than federal.
This is one school in one city. They can and do make their own rules about what goes on inside their walls.
Some schools around here contract with only one major soda distributor, pepsi or coke. That means you can't get a coke from the vending machine in a "pepsi" school. Are we supposed to think this is illegal discrimination against coke drinkers?

I had to fight against this sort of thing when my kids were little. The fact that the school serves balanced meals is meaningless if the kids do not eat the food served. It is not just picky eaters, but the tastes kids have.
And beyond that, it goes back to the same complaint of having the gov't tell me they know better how to raise my kids.

That's just horseshit, most of these kids don't know any different because their parents are thick as planks. They will grow up to be unproductive adults that will be a drain on the public coffers so what's wrong with a bit of food education?

THAT is their parents fault. Being a drain on public coffers is YOUR fault. get rid of the public coffers, they will no longer be a drain on society. they'll either learn to become productive or they can die out.

Jessica, a sophomore at a private Seattle school, says while volunteering at a public school, she was required to call 'Easter eggs' 'Spring Spheres.'
A sophomore at a local private high school thinks an effort to make Easter politically correct is ridiculous.
Jessica, 16, told KIRO Radio's Dori Monson Show that a week before spring break, the students commit to a week-long community service project. She decided to volunteer in a third grade class at a public school, which she would like to remain nameless.
"At the end of the week I had an idea to fill little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that," Jessica said.
She was concerned how the teacher might react to the eggs after of a meeting earlier in the week where she learned about "their abstract behavior rules."
"I went to the teacher to get her approval and she wanted to ask the administration to see if it was okay," Jessica explained. "She said that I could do it as long as I called this treat 'spring spheres.' I couldn't call them Easter eggs."
