Don't Ask, Don't TELL

The Republicans who voted for it deserve a hand:

Scott Brown, of Massachusetts; Susan M. Collins and Olympia J. Snowe, both of Maine; Mark Kirk of Illinois; Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and George Voinovich of Ohio

Joe Manchin, the only Democrat to vote against repeal last week, didn't vote today.

I really want to know why this doesn't have more support amongst the Republican leadership? Not even a majority of Republicans support DADT. The minority of the minority shouldn't be deciding our policy. The tip of the tail shouldn't be wagging the rest of the tail and the dog.

??wtf...The minority of the minority DIDN'T decide our policy.

The repeal of dadt was successful....the majority party was victorious...

How will they flaunt it anymore than the hetro-sexuals? I doubt they will act any different than they already do, most are highly trained professional soldiers.

Its gonna be a blast....it gives new meaning to the Army's motto, "Be all that you can be"......

Army Rangers and Special Forces.....very special.

We get that you tried to post an insult and it bombed. I have yet to see any of those who oppose the repeal of DADT give any real reasons it shouldn't be repealed.

Me? Insult the "Special" Forces? Never.....

I just said its gonna be fun to watch it all happen....and the reactions of their fellow soldiers and sailors....

Whats the big uproar..???
I can hardly wait to see a couple of big bad-ass Marines kissing and hugging in the next parade, maybe even some serious ass grabbing, and some cutey sailors smooching it up at the next Army/Navy game.... its gonna be a blast.....:palm:

I just want to make clear that I did not mean to imply a negative judgment of Bravo's preferences.

What is their reaction if they see a female member of their branch of the service being kissed by a male member of their branch?

And why would someone's reaction have anything to do with our nation's official policy?

Bravo, do you think we should base our repeal or acceptance of DADT on what other nations think?

Why was it such a great service? Is something good and beneficial going to come from this? Will this action make our military stronger or more capable of fighting? From my perspective, nothing "good" can happen as a result of this. All that can possibly happen, is bad.

It actually marks the end of what I thought was one of Clinton's smartest decisions as president.

It makes our nation stronger, we now allow everyone to serve openly and honestly about who they are!

Another Obama Campaign promise Complete!

Thats quite alright.....English is probably your second language...you can get someone to explain the slang term " a blast" to you....though its pretty obvious the term has no sexual component....
Well, maybe to you it does , but I mean to normal people.

Clinton took a baby step with DADT.....

Finally we can have it over-with and the true step President Clinton should have taken is complete!

Gosh, no need to be insulting.

I merely wanted to make sure that everybody knows I'm not judging your desire to see "a couple of big bad-ass Marines kissing and hugging in the next parade, maybe even some serious ass grabbing, and some cutey sailors smooching it up", which you enjoy (its gonna be a blast), apparently.

why are so many republicans (and no doubt some dems) so scared of gays serving openly? mccain looks like a washed up has been commercial for musilex on this issue....he is whining that it will cause hardship for our military...wtf??....i don't see many military leaders backing that claim up

sm think blow jobs are as immoral as gay sex...so his argument should be that any male, hetero or gay, shouldn't be allowed to serve openly because blow jobs are ssssssinful and demoralizing for our troops...dixie is just parroting garbage from right wing websites

Show me that post...I gotta see it for myself and in what context he said such a dumb thing.....

You can show me the post can't you?

"Yurt" didn't say that, he was paraphrasing "SM". He said Dixie was parroting right-wing sites.

Bravo, you keep trying to ridicule this. But you have given no reason to keep DADT. I know you think its icky. I have no problem with that. But that is not a reason to bar homosexuals from openly serving in the military.

One more question for you, Bravo. Have you ever served in the military?

Whats the big uproar..???
I can hardly wait to see a couple of big bad-ass Marines kissing and hugging in the next parade, maybe even some serious ass grabbing, and some cutey sailors smooching it up at the next Army/Navy game.... its gonna be a blast:

Doesn't look to me as if "Bravo" thinks homosexuality is "icky".

Did I misunderstand the meaning of his post?

Dixie, you could substitute race for sexual orientation in your rants and have the exact thing that was said when the US military was desegregated.

Now, before you start another rant, whether we can equate homosexuality and race is irrelevant. The adamant reactions against desegregation were the same. And just as baseless.

Here is a fascinating article about serving homosexuals in WW2, I wonder whet Dixie has to say about it?

The repeal of dadt was successful....the majority party was victorious...

The Republican senators were almost unanimous in their rejection of the policy, despite the fact that the Republican electorate itself is split on the issue. What's wrong with that picture? And it almost killed the entire thing.
