Trump and Putin had not had a face to face in a while and Putin realized that the last one in Trump's ear was a danger as he saw Trump rhetoric increasing against him.
Trump promised that no deal would be met with harsh punishment a few weeks back and that time was running out. Trump would have to act or be called TACO again.
With a single meeting where Putin did and offered NOTHING but simply flattered Trump, telling him the war would never have happened, if Trump was in power, was all Putin needed to end the talk of increased punishment on Russia and increased aid to Ukraine. Yes it was that easy to manipulate Trump and instead not put it entirely on Ukraine to get a deal. Meaning Trump is saying Ukraine can cut a deal by giving Russia what it wants.
No one more than Putin shows how weak and ineffective Trump is.
