Mott the Hoople
Sweet Jane
No not that Milo! I mean Milo Minderbinder one of the main Characters of Joe Heller's masterpiece Catch-22.
The book is a satire on the absurdity of war and no character in Catch-22 is as absurd as Milo who represents the human embodiment of the extremes of Capitalism. Milo is utterly amoral and completely lacking a conscience and can rationalize any behavior that generates a profit for his syndicate via the slogan that "what's good for the syndicate is what's good for the country and everyone has a share!"
I often tease Cawacko about having Milo's absurd philosophy when his pro- business philosophy places him on shaky moral or ethical grounds that he justifies by profits or economic growth.
Be that as it may I found the following article amusing because I enjoyed great good humor at the utter absurdity of the Trump campaign topped off by the ultimate absurdity in that he was actually elected! Joe Heller would not have been surprised and greatly amused at Donald's election. In this article the author compares Donald Trump, the prophet of profit, to Milo Minderbinder and not only are the comparisons quite accurate they are, not surprisingly, completely absurd!
