A very wealthy Repub donor forced Vance on the ticket. Trump allowed it, but he has him as far from the White House or Mar-a-Lago as possible. Vance expressed very clearly that he thought Trump was a bad person and a bad politician with Nazi tendencies. Of course, he hs had to eat those beliefs to stay in line. The Trump/Vance ticket shows you who is the real power in Repub circles. Vance said Trump was America's Hitler. He was not wrong. Who is pulling Trump's strings?

Fortunately, there are over 80M gun owners in America. Most of them Independents who disapprove of tyrants.
More importantly is that the US won't fall to fascism because of the resulting loss of rights and the comforts freedom affords. This isn't Germany trying to recover from the triple whammy of losing a generation of young men in WWI, the financially crushing terms of the Treaty of Versailles* and the Great Depression. If Trump starts restricting rights, such as declaring martial law or cancelling the Midterms, the blowback will prove fatal to his ambitions.
Trump has blood on his hands and he's causing more for very erratic reasons. If he orders his secret police to start machine-gunning down Americans or causes a mass casualty event due to his war in the ME, I strongly doubt most Americans will support it. They might even take action on it.
