Does trump have a viable defense?

The minute they are taken or made public, they are declassified.

I'd like to know from any of you Trump hating halfwits if Biden should be charged? Anyone?

Let's see should we listen to you, a troll on an opinion site or to Bill Barr an attorney who has served at the highest level in our government who says trump had no claim to the documents?

"In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Barr said the government’s agenda with the indictment was to protect the classified documents and get them back, adding that he was “shocked by the degree of sensitivity” of the documents allegedly found at Mar-A-Lago and how many documents there were.

The 31 counts that Trump faces for willful retention of national defense information—an Espionage Act statute—are “solid counts,” Barr said, adding, “he’s totally wrong that he had the right to have those documents.”

trump is toast.

yes......indictments are supposed to do that.......next will be a trial......that's when the prosecutor has to prove shit.........you lib'ruls like to skip that part.......

Pretty irrefutable when the prosecution has audio tapes and pictures proving its case. You trumptards keep forgetting that part. Poor trump hasn't learned anything from Nixon. It's the tapes and the attempted coverup that will kill trump.

My biggest concern, and it isn't that big, is that this incompetent judge will direct a verdict for Trump. I really don't understand the Trump cult psyche, but it appears she is a card carrying member. Would she be willing to ruin her reputation and her career to save Trump from this one indictment, when others are surely coming, and they WON'T be brought in the Southern District of Florida. I have a feeling that the appellate court slapping her on the nose with a newspaper will probably do the trick. She might want to stay on this case to prove she can be unbiased. But again, the mentality of cults isn't something I can relate to.

Why do you think the judge is incompetent?

You really should read the shit you link to.

Did you know that Trump was working with NARA???
You mean they were trying to work with him as they have all others during his final weeks in office

but him being a delusional nut job - things just get convoluted again.

you going to pretend they put the records in his bathroom.

Hello Jarod,

Maybe that's why his lawyers quit.

The 'But Biden' defense does not work.

And we hear his supporters using that over and over. The one thing not heard is "He didn't do it.'

Everybody knows he committed these crimes.

He did it.

It is an exemplification of the old saying. 'Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.'

Trump built the closest thing he could to absolute power.

He had nobody to tell him he couldn't do wrong things. Early on, he did. He refused to listen to those things. He got rid of anyone and everyone who told him he could not do this or that. He got rid of a functioning cabinet and team and replaced them all with yes men and yes women.

As an aside, his mini-me DeSantis does the same thing. I heard he goes through staff like toilet paper. John Oliver said in his video about DeSantis that DeSantis had a strange dating trick. He would take a date out to Thia food and claim he liked 'Thigh Food;' purposely mispronouncing it. If a date corrected him he dumped her. He didn't want a girlfriend who ever corrected him. He doesn't want anybody who ever corrects him. Sound familiar?

trump's primary opponents like little ronny thigh food/pudding fingers knows his arguments about inequity in justice is bs and knows he can always pivot if the primary race for president becomes difficult. It's pretty saddening to see the GOP attacking our justice system for political gain. How far the Republican party has fallen.

an open and shut case of political bias.....I would say you couldn't lose.......except for your six year unbeaten record of losing........

My 6 year unbeaten record of losing? Have you forgotten you trumptards have been trounced in the past several elections? You lost the presidency and the Senate and several governorships.

Suck it, trumptard.

Now, all of a sudden, the leftists like Bill Barr? They sure as hell didn't when Trump appointed him.

"Democrats once accused former Attorney General William Barr of lying to Congress and covering up Donald Trump’s corruption. They said he was more interested in serving as the ex-President’s attorney than the nation’s independent top law officer separated from the White House by an invisible wall."

Bill Barr is a rat who jumped ship when he saw that Trump would lose.

I read the indictment, and I do not see a viable defense for Trump? Does anybody have any kind of defense to the allegations against Trump? I’m not talking about whining about pretend arguments that other people did the same thing, I’m talking about an honest defense

There isn’t one.

No there isn't however there are some possibilities that could let him off. If a judge excludes evidence that is critical, if a mistrial were to be ruled on for some reason or we have a few trump plants on the jury he could slip through our hands. Was OJ innocent?

This should be dismissed based on the groundless assertion that a President cannot maintain his own records and that the PRA supersedes any despicable efforts by a weaponized DOJ to single Trump out.

Now, if the DOJ wants to charge Biden, Pence, Obama, Clinton and a host of others guilty of the same offense or worse for Biden who was never President, then perhaps that can be argued out in courts.

None of those others you mention overtly obstructed justice and that is what he is being charged with. It is obvious that he had no right to have those documents and he did everything he could to conspire to keep them.

Biden did not make any attempt to conceal or conspire to keep anything and that is what trump is being charged with. The difference is night and day and only a fucking devout trump dick sucker doesn't see the difference.

That's a moronic lie. Cooperation is not a defense halfwit. Trump was the ONLY one here with the right to take documents and declassify.

Biden stole documents as a Senator and as a VP. He kept the documents in multiple unsecured locations for decades. He did not have that right. Should he be arrested? If not, why not?

Because there was no attempt to break the law. If Trump had returned everything he took in short order he never would have been charged either. You must have intent to be charged and you must know what you were doing was illegal and the evidence is there for both.

Haha, no, I added the word "valid" because you tried to equivocate.

Playing the asked and answered game cuz you hate to answer, don't you?

I answered this already I have no fucking clue if there is a valid defense but that's not the same as saying there isnt one. You can't be that stupid can you?

If you bothered to read the indictment the answers would be obvious as to how the documents were hidden.
https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23839636-230609-trump-indictment
On May 22nd, Trump was told by his lawyers that they would have to search all the boxes he brought from the White House to comply with the subpoena.
Between May 22 and May 30, Trump had 64 boxes moved out of the storage closet to his residence.
Only 30 boxes were returned before the search on June 2.
Trump never told his lawyers he had moved the boxes or that some the boxes weren't in the storage room.

When the FBI later did their own search, they found 102 documents that should have been found by the lawyers if the documents had not been hidden from them.

The main charge in the indictment is espionage. It is a ludicrous and outrageously stupid charge. Everything after that is meaningless partisan hackery.
