I think it is time we decided what parts of the country believe what and then people immigrate to that place. Those of you that want a country ruled by the rule of a christian god move to the bible belt. Those of you that want Nanny State-ism can move to the northeast or the west coast. Those that want a more libertarian live and let live type of world can relocate here to the mountain west. Dixie is never going to agree with ANYTHING that Mainman says and vice versa. Most of you on this site don't believe in america, you believe in liberal america or conservative america. It ultimately leads to nowhere. It is also very boring after a while.

Unfortunately, there are more important things in our individual lives than politics.

I mean, I think I'd like living in a liberaltopia, until I realize I'd have to leave behind nearly all my family and friends. Their politics just isn't much of a big deal to me, and I usually just avoid the subjects of religion and politics (and, at most, ribbing them if they force me to bring it up).

Soc, I'll bring a bottle of good scotch, tequila or whatever you would enjoy. You grab a couple of good cigars. Thorn you bring your hubby & your dogs. We will build a place for them to go thru their paces on an obstacle course. We can gather a few of us together for social hours, and watch Thorn's puppies run their course.

I personally find the third of the four conflicts to be a meaningful one, so I can't go along with Soc on this one. Murder is always an important topic.

Conflict is a natural state and function of life my brother. Conflict should neither surprise you nor deter you from listening to varying opinion on subjects like politics and religion .. BOTH of which are divisive by their very nature. My "god" my "politics" are bigger than yours.

Conflict is not only natural, it's good. It weeds out the weak. If your argument is weak, conflict will weed that bullshit out.

Conflict causes you to rethink what you claim you believe. A bunch of right-wingers sitting around listening to Hannity will all come way believeing they know the truth. But when they run to sites like this to expose that new-found truth and encounter the force of conflict and different perspective .. their members get soft again and anger ensues. The only relief they can find is in the circle-jerk of talking to people just like them .. where conflict and varying opinion do not exist.

That's natural .. that's normal .. that's good.

Conflict is good.

The beauty of it is that we no longer resort to physical violence to resolve these conflicts, we resort to intellectual warfare. The beauty of that is that no one has to move to seperate parts of the country to either hold, support, or most importantly, FIGHT for what they believe. Thus, my brother, and African-American socialist like me can live in the heart of dixie and dare anyone to challenge my right to live and do anything I fucking want to do.

I'm an American goddammit and I can live any damn place I want to live, hold any belief I want to hold, date, love, have sex with, and marry any goddamn body I choose, and dare a motherfucker to tell me I don't.

I don't mind the disagreement, it's just the make-believe nonsensical horseshit lying that bothers the shit out of me.

There are two threads on the other forum started in the last ten minutes that are unadulterated horseshit lies (the first: Obama is an American dictator for appointing people to positions that have existed since the Eisenhower administration; the second: the Democrats want make private health insurance illegal). I mean, I understand that when you have no ideas you resort to just attacking the ideas of the other party, but the lying just grows tiresome.
