Colin Powell on Sunday blamed the media as well as the Tea Party for the divisive political tone in Washington.

Not surprisingly, neither the class warfare stoked by President Obama and his Party nor the resulting Occupy Wall Street movement was mentioned during this seven minute interview with Christiane Amanpour on ABC's This Week (video follows with transcript and commentary):

We struck up a quick conversation at the beach but she said she was just on her way back to her hotel and asked if we could get together later for a drink and something to eat. She mentioned a place and I, still in awe, stammered, "Yes, eat." As I watched her walk away with visions of sugar plums dancing in my head it quickly struck me I had already discussed dinner plans with my wife!

Yes, Colin Powell was an insider. He knew the Republican party intimately after experiencing the party using him and damaging his reputation regarding his defense of the Iraq war. The war mongers knew Powell would lend credibility to the cherry-picked information and gather public support.
