Does protectionism extend to H1B visas?

Should we be encouraging/allowing companies to hire foreign workers?

Should we have a tax or something on offshored jobs? ie call centers in India and such?

Why do you believe taxation/regulation is the only solution to every problem?

Not to every problem. But many with power think the good of the one or few (them) outweighs the good of the many.
Regulation is needed to keep America being America in these cases.

Hell yes. Talent is something there's never enough of. I say rubber stamp all immigrants vias with a PhD from any accredited University or a Masters degree in a technology field.

It's going to take 20 years to undo the damage the Bushies did to education on our nation. Now maybe kids will want to study science again.

You're dead on. I call that the "Milo Minderbinder" philosophy of "What's good for us is what's good for the country".

It was the signature mark of Neocon philosophy and the principle reason for its failure.

We should not encourage the use of immigrant labor. The H1B program should be eliminated.

Protectionism made this country great. Selloutism is destroying it.

You just simply don't know what your talking about. Just as Dred Scott is often sited as SCOTUS worst decision, the Smoot-Hawley tariff act is quite possibly the worst piece of legislation ever passed by a US Congress.

I simply do know what I'm talking about.

And we can implement protectionism in a slow manner, just like the way they're implementing selloutism. We can ramp up our production as we wean foreign sweat shops off our tit. And we can tell them going forward, they will need to develop locally viable productions, for locally viable consumption.

Globalization is merely the dream multinational corporations and their paid lackeys, politicians, have of reducing all of humanity to be under their control.
