Rick Santorum, the man who came closest to challenging Romney grip on the nomination before dropping out, told ABC's This Week he would "answer the call," should his former sparring partner come looking for him.
"I wish governor Romney the best, and I'll do whatever I can to be helpful to him," Santorum said.
Santorum's attitude has come a long way since April when he wrote to voters in Iowa warning: "It truly frightens me to think what'll happen if Mitt Romney is the nominee."
The former Massachusetts governor "presents zero contrast with Barack Obama on the major issues of this election", Santorum added then.
