Does North Korea have WMD?

Mmm...it's hardly like you're living in the fucking Maldives. I thought you lived in the tropical paradise of Sheffield.

PS - You have a point about Workington.

Disclaimer - charver has never lived, and will never live, in Workington

I went to Workington once, it was shut. Actually Sheffield used to be a bit of a shithole but in recent years it has transformed into a truly great place. Anyway I am planning to move to a real tropical paradise soon.

It seems to me that much the same strategy that JFK used in the Cuban Missile Crisis is being employed here. What is so different in President Trump using the same tactic today? The answer is that Donald Trump has put a lot of noses out of joint nearer home and his rhetoric against Kim Wrong-un is a good excuse to attack him. I get the distinct impression that there are more than few on here that would rather die in a nuclear holocaust than say anything good about Trump.

25 years of appeasement from globalists like Clinton, Bush and Obama have allowed the NK nuclear arms programme to flourish and it is common knowledge NK are in cahoots with Iran. Now Trump has to deal with this horrendous mess, you should all be praying he gets it right rather than trying to prove you're all such brilliant tacticians.

The only thing preventing this situation from getting very ugly is that neither Trump or Kim Jong-Un's threats are taken seriously. Remember what happened when Obama drew a red line? Even though Obama ended up not attacking, Russia frantically rushed to destroy the vast majority of Syria's chemical weapons because they felt it was a serious and impending threat. Russia and Syria tried to appease Obama's threat. Problem for all leaders, whether its Trump or Obama, is that once you dial up the threat to 11, and you don't act, your credibility goes to shit. It's even worse to for Trump, because he starts at 11, and he never had credibility to begin with.

I thought what would keep this situation from getting ugly was the fact that nobody takes your warnings that the situation is getting ugly seriously........its a shame you aren't as worried about NK developing nuclear weapons as you are with Trump's golfing.......

I don't know why people say that.

And I'm pretty sure Bowl Cut is assuming Trump's threat is credible. Or put it this way, if he doesn't then he's stupid along with being crazy.

Actually, it's Bowl Cut with the credibility issue. He's the one who made the specific threat against Guam. So, maybe he is stupid, it's hard to say for sure. On top of that, China said they would stand down if NK attacks first.

Which gives Trump the Green Light. So Bowl Cut kind of stuck his foot in it. On top of that, the Japanese promised to shoot down any missiles fired in Guam's direction. They have Aegis capabilities. Which goes heavily in Trump's favor because he can give Bowl Cut the world stage smack-down without having to do anything.

Because if NK can't get missiles off they're kinda screwed.

this is why nations want allies..frequently I hear "what business is it of our's?"
Along w/the Security Council vote and China at least not jumping into a NK attack-
we have Japan and Australia directly committed to our defense

The move by China to stand down if NK attacks was huge.

NK couldn't be more isolated. I'd say there's a really decent chance this will resolve without any fireworks.

If you want allies, pick another president. Trump is terrible at cultivating allies. If other nations act to support Trump, it's because it is in THEIR interest to do so, not because Trump came calling. Trump is a turd.

If Jong-Un is afraid of Trump's threat, it's only because he himself keeps ratcheting up the rhetoric from NK's side, and only because of internal pressure and his own slippery grip on his own leadership status -- not because he takes Trump's threat seriously. No one should take Trump seriously.

Trump is like a child with a red sharpie, drawing red lines in every direction that the grown-ups have to clean up.

Again, I don't know why you say that or why any of the world players would think that about Trump. Put it this way---no one is acting like Trump is a paper tiger.

You and the anti-Trump left are boxed in by your rhetoric: on the one hand, Trump is unstable and unfit for office. On the other hand, he's too chicken to pull the trigger on Bowl Cut.

You can't have it both ways. If Bowl Cut perceives Trump to be unstable, then Trump becomes exceedingly dangerous, because he becomes an unpredictable actor. Much more so than Obama or Bush.

Without question, Bowl Cut reads and watches our media, so it's possible he has the impression Trump is unstable. If so, the media is good for something after all, because that's to our benefit.

why? because he's getting NATO to pay at least the 2%? what allies has he lost? (none)

No, I never said Trump is too chicken to pull the trigger. I think being a 'chicken' involves a degree of thought and consideration, which Trump has never demonstrated. In fact, I think if there was an actual nuclear button, Trump would have pressed it a hundred times already. Probably while watching CNN.

Fact is, no one takes Trump seriously when he issues an order. His babysitters just kind of ignore him and 'massage' his child-like rhetoric with actual policy.

Trump goes, 'WAAHHHH! I want to nuke North Korea! Kim make Trump mad!'

Tillerson goes, "What the president means is that all options are on the table, and the Kim should be wary of attacking a US protectorate.'

Trump, "WAAAAHHHHH! NUKE NUKE NUKE!"

Mattis: "What the president means is that China should engage North Korea so that we can resolve this matter peacefully."

Trump: *throws soiled diaper in a fit of rage*

Is that how you judge success? By not losing allies? He has international "allies" because -- as I said -- it is in their interest to maintain a good relationship. If they aid America or Trump, it is because it is in their interest. In SPITE of what Trump does or says. Trump has few allies in his own country. Republicans hate him, Democrats won't work with him, and the American population doesn't trust him. Everyone KNOWS that Trump will stab his closest allies in the back the second they don't tow the line and do whatever he says.

Trump is a wannabe authoritarian who can't do anything beyond the boundaries of his established power. A true leader doesn't demand, they inspire. They exceed their power by (for example) compelling other branches of government to pull their levers in his/her favor. They can have other world leaders take political risks to support them. Trump can't do any of that. He's a turd and no one wants to work with him. They do so out of necessity.

you are confusing domestic #nevertrump(s) and partisan politics to international relations.
You are ranting without references to foreign leaders
