Does anyone know what freedoms you are fighting for?

Does anyone know what freedoms are unique to America?

I have asked before but no one is either willing or able to give me a straight answer.

It must be very important because you are prepared to invade sovereign nationsnd kill their inhabitants in its name. It must be very important because so many of you bang on about defending your 'freedoms'. But what are they.

Serious question.

It's the freedom to bluster like a Randy Weaver wannabe on the internet and then cower when the Secret Service comes calling....

It wouls appear that for all their bluster, those who bang the freedom drum have no idea why they do it. Same as voting republican I guess!

It's because we've been shouting about freedom for so long it's now inseparable from our military. It's a key word in America that has lost all meaning and purpose.

We're fighting because if we stop "we won't be number one anymore".

Plus we're still in love with cold war politics style.

Unique:

- gun rights

- free speech rights.
(many countries have bullshit restrictions that america wouldn't tolerate. We are one of a kind with what we allow)

We don't invade to spread freedom. No one believes that. It's almost a strawman at this point to suggest otherwise. It's merely simple propaganda that no one even entertains the notion of. We obviously invade countries because exploding shit is fun. That's why we have a holiday where we blow shit up. It's what we do.

Interessting.
These are the freedoms we have that you do not have in you free society.
We are free to go where we like, at any time of the day or night, at any age and of any gender without fear of molestation, attack or murder.
We are free to set up a company today, get everything finalised and start trading tomorrow by paying less than many people earn in an hour.
We are free to greet all nations and all religions and know that no one is going to blow us up.
We are free to go about our day to day business without the necessity of carrying a gun because no one else has one either.
Our children are taught to respect their elders and to behave well in public.
They are studious and conscientious although almost lacking in creativity.
We are free to pay a flat rate of income tax and no more and not to be taxed on capital gains so more of what we earn stays in our pockets.
Oh, and before people like Dumbo start with their stupidity, I am free to say that the president of China, Mr Hu and later Mr Xie are bloody fools and should not be allowed to breath if I wish.
I would evn, although it is unlikely that anyone would, say that I was american and the best people in the world. In other words I am free to lie if I wish.

You're Hu's bitch.

Serious question.

The cornerstone fundamental to American freedom is this: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator, certain unalienable rights, including; Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. All of the unique difference can be summed up in this one sentence.

There are indeed, other western civilizations who have freedoms and liberties, but the difference is found in where these freedoms are made possible. In other countries, the freedoms are granted by a document, perhaps a constitution? Upheld by courts and sponsored by government. But here, the freedom is not ordained by man, it is endowed by our Creator. And it is unalienable, it can't be granted by decree of a constitution or court, it can't be taken away by a politician or ruling body, it's something we can not be alienated from because we are born with it and entitled to it, because our Creator endowed it upon us.

Now your mind will immediately try to close up here, because this sounds a lot like "theocratic" type of government... Who's Creator? Well, that's the beauty of the whole thing... it doesn't matter who's. You'll find that only 5% of the human population are Nihilist. Meaning, roughly 95% of us believe in something greater than self. Whatever that thing is, which guides our spiritual beliefs and/or faith, even if it's nothing more than Mother Nature herself, THAT is what endowed us with these inalienable rights, and we can all come together, united as 'one nation under God', with the universal understanding of what that actually means... not a "Christian" God, but a universal concept of something greater than self, whatever that may be for the individual. We can set aside the debates over individual theocracy and religious dogma, we don't have to establish government on the basis of it, because we have this exceptional unique attribute of universal principle.

We just so happen to be a nation comprised of mostly believers in the God of Abraham. Therefore, many of the laws we pass and boundaries we establish, are rooted in what these people believe, as part of their faith. That is the great thing about our system, we are allowed to have free religious expression, and our religious thoughts and ideas are allowable when we determine laws, etc. We don't have to fear a theocracy, because the system prevents that, the same principles can't apply to a theocracy. I'm not saying we can pass religious law, but religion can most certainly influence our decisions on the law. THAT IS true Religious Freedom.

Do you know how other nations' freedom works? Nothing unique there either.

Third paragraph is off topic.

Fourth paragraph shows no uniqueness.

If there is any uniqueness in what you say it is simply in the words used. Just the same as this post is, at the time of writing, unique.
All in all the USA is no freer than many other nations. It has some freedoms that a minority of nations possess and it lacks some freedoms that some other countries have.
All in all my original question remains unanswered.

Do you know how other nations' freedom works? Nothing unique there either.

Is your freedom in your country based on the idea that all men are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights by their Creator?

I think this is a unique attribute to American civilization, and it has been attempted in other places, because it is successful, or has been the past 200 years.

No place has religious freedom been as successful as here, which is why you are seeking answers to your questions, isn't it?

You are using a word 'creator' that makes no sense.

that's because we have cops with an inferiority complex combined with a thug mentality as well as a justice system that throws violent criminals back out on the street to victimize us.
We are free to set up a company today, get everything finalised and start trading tomorrow by paying less than many people earn in an hour.
and we have liberals who demand outrageous license fees and taxes to provide security theater.
We are free to greet all nations and all religions and know that no one is going to blow us up.
and we have conservative warmongers
We are free to go about our day to day business without the necessity of carrying a gun because no one else has one either.
and we real americans learned a little over 200 years ago that confiscating our firearms was a prelude to total tyranny, something we were not going to allow.
Our children are taught to respect their elders and to behave well in public.
we have liberals who don't believe in spanking but do believe in personal irresponsibility
They are studious and conscientious although almost lacking in creativity.
and we have liberals who believe that everyone should succeed no matter their skillsets and those that can't, deserve to be supported anyway.
We are free to pay a flat rate of income tax and no more and not to be taxed on capital gains so more of what we earn stays in our pockets.
and we have liberals who believe the wealthy should pay most of their income in taxes so that the rest of americans can get an extra check.
Oh, and before people like Dumbo start with their stupidity, I am free to say that the president of China, Mr Hu and later Mr Xie are bloody fools and should not be allowed to breath if I wish.
and we have idiots that didn't learn from history by not only allowing, but approving of, laws like the sedition act less than 20 years after fighting a bloody war for independence
I would evn, although it is unlikely that anyone would, say that I was american and the best people in the world. In other words I am free to lie if I wish.
and we have conservatives who think that you should go to prison for lying to government agents.

see, this country is a very different society than what you have. we have ideological idiots running the asylum.

So, no murder on the streets of Hong Kong?

I actually like your start-up policies for business - we have too many leftists for that to take hold here anytime soon...

This is the government advisory:

Safety and Security - Terrorism
There is a low threat from terrorism. But you should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate terrorist attacks, which could be in public areas, including those frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. See our Terrorism abroad page.

Safety and Security - Crime
The incidence of violent crime is very low but pick pocketing and other street crime can occur. You should take extra care of passports, credit cards and money in crowded areas and when checking in and out of hotels. There have also been some isolated incidents of robberies in Hong Kong's Country Parks since 2005; these incidents have been reduced following a crime prevention operation by the Hong Kong Police. Nevertheless, if you intend to hike in Hong Kong's Country Parks you should stick to marked trails and avoid carrying credit/bank cards or large amounts of cash.

You should ensure that anything you drink cannot be tampered with. You should also be wary of accepting drinks from strangers and always have a trusted friend to keep an eye on any unfinished drink if you need to leave it for a period of time.

See our Victims of crime abroad page.

Safety and Security - Political Situation
Hong Kong is a stable society underpinned by the rule of law. Large-scale demonstrations are becoming more frequent in Hong Kong, but despite the substantial numbers these sometimes attract, they have been conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner. However, you should take sensible precautions against petty crime if in the vicinity.

Hong Kong country profile

Local laws and customs

Hong Kong law is based mainly on UK law. There are on the spot fines for littering and spitting. There is zero tolerance for ticketless travel the Mass Transit Railway (MTR).

You should not become involved with illicit drugs of any kind. Possession of these drugs can lead to imprisonment.

As a general precaution don’t take photographs of military installations in Hong Kong. Since the 1997 handover, the defence of Hong Kong has been the responsibility of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). All previous British military barracks now belong to the PLA.

The wars the U.S. is involved in right now are not about citizens rights and freedom. They about greed, power, oil, and influance, and tricking the American public to willingly give up their cival and constitutional rights so that the 1% can have more money and power.

As it was in the beginning is now and forever, greed without end.
There are two types of people. Those who see their fellow man simply as assets to be exploited and those who are exploited. Oh, a third: those who are so foolish as to believe that one day one of the exploiters might glance in their direction and share part of his wealth.

so the haves, the have nots, and liberals?

You are using a word 'creator' that makes no sense.

That's what I was thinking. What if you're an atheist and don't believe in a Creator? Maybe it's like the Mormons doing proxy baptizing, you don't have to believe but you're covered by those who do.

The men who wrote the document had no more insight into a Creator's plans for a new government than anyone else who ever existed. It was 18th century language used to build cohesiveness and give people a rallying point when times were troubled and uncertain.
