"Screw the American people" is exactly what obstructionist Righties are saying by blocking everything the President tries to put forth.

A majority of America VOTED for Obama, but apparently you don't think their voices and votes count.

Well then that majority that voted for Obama voted for him to act within the limits of the system which is dominated by a congress that is theoretically opposed to him. Ergo, they did not vote for a dictator who would HAVE to work around the legislature.

Additionally, that's the way things are SUPPOSED to work. If the majority votes in a bad president, they need only wait 2 years before they can elect obstructionists. It's pretty much the ONLY check on presidential power left since FDR and his 2 decades of tyranny.

Now of course that's assuming that either party works for anything other than political contributers, which current experience shows that they don't. It would also assume that either or both parties would work within the framework of the Constitution, which again, they don't and show no intention of doing so.
