How did the Republican Party change? What does Trump believe that are not in line with the Republican Party ideology?

The ONLY major difference between Trump and previous milk toast Republicans is he can afford to take on the DC deep state. We need more like him.

In the past, the Republicans were in favor of free trade without considering whether the trading partner actually was equally open to our products. This was a problem that both parties had.

Trump is the first president to really push for "reciprocal" trade. In other words, he uses tariffs and other tools as leverage to force a trading partner (like China) to open up more of their markets to our products.

How is Trump not for free trade? I must have missed that.

In the past, Democrats were the party defending tariffs. What changed?

Wrong; he is the first to acknowledge there isn't free trade with certain partners and rectifying it. ;)

In other words, he uses tariffs and other tools as leverage to force a trading partner (like China) to open up more of their markets to our products.

Wrong; he is using tariffs to force some trading partners to end their protectionist unfair trade policies.

I see now why you are so confused and foolishly claim Trump has changed the party. ;)

He's for free trade with common sense applied to it. A lot of Republicans and Democrats have, since the 80s, opened up our trade a lot without holding trade partners to the same standards.

That's the same thing as what I said.

Again, how is what you just posted different from what I posted? We seem to be arguing semantics here.
