You mean the books that describe how God killed people for a bet. How he slaughtered hundreds of thousands of kids because he had a temper tantrum? The one that says kill your enemies and then rape their women? That says slavery is okay but you should give them Sundays off, along with your farm animals?

I also have the one "If I Ran the Zoo" by Doctor Suess, I believe that one also didn't make the cut due to "woke"...

From what I read at the time it was due to supposed "racist" imagery in the book. There was a thread on this site about it. I thought we had donated all those books at the time and was lamenting that what may now be rare books were no longer in my collection, but when we moved I found the whole Suess set that we got from my parents when we had our first kid. Both of these were in the set. Along with "Mr. Brown Can Moo" and tons of others.

The publisher said it was simply because those books did not sell well, I remember the threads... they were quoting the likes of Tucker Carlson saying it was "Wokeness", you got duped.

Honestly, I believe that most people bought sets at that time if they were going to buy Suess books, why by them one at a time? Suess himself maybe didn't sell well. I don't know and I don't really care. I am just glad I have some books that may become rare over time and have good memories of reading to my kids attached.

I do remember some members here posting images of specific pictures in the books that were supposedly "racist". And they weren't Tucker Carlson fans.

My best guess is it may have been a bit of both. They would have continued to sell the books, but now there had a reason. It is really simple to print them after an order at this point in time. Excluding certain ones aren't because of the numbers of sales really. It isn't like they have to print a ton and keep them warehoused at this point.
