Do conservatives even know what CRT is?

Republicans have spoken out against critical race theory on cable news and on the campaign trail, and have even tried to legislate against it, yet it appears most have struggled to even explain it.** But that ain’t stopping ‘em, nothing like a little scaremongering to work up the base, too bad Rudi blew his wad on the Big Lie, he showed with terrorism how to do it right

Ha! Instead of a Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT), Repukes in their extreme ignorance of technology relate to the CRT expression of Crooks, Rats and Traitors.

Curious, have you ever heard of an actual CRT class being taught or offered in Universities?

Not many. The components are more likely to be taught in employee training sessions and student orientation programs. Also, instructors quite often include elements in their classes officially or just editorializing.

[h=2]Critical Race Theory (Harvard Law School)[/h] Professor Kenneth Mack
Fall 2021 reading group
M 7:15pm - 9:15pm
1 classroom credit
Prerequisite: None
Exam Type: No Exam
This reading group will consider one of the newest intellectual currents within American Legal Theory - Critical Race Theory. Emerging during the 1990s, critical race scholars made many controversial claims about law and legal education - among them that race and racial inequality suffused American law and society, that structural racial subordination remained endemic, and that both liberal and critical legal theories marginalized the voices of racial minorities. Course readings will be taken from both classic works of Critical Race Theory and newer interventions in the field, as well as scholarship criticizing or otherwise engaging with Critical Race Theory from outside or at the margins of the field.

I don’t think the point is to have an elective CRT class because then all people wouldn’t take the course. But I’ve never heard of an actual CRT course

Me either but the topic is about certain Republicans claiming that CRT is being taught in K-12 public schools and they know what CRT is about.

You yourself admitted that you know little about CRT and CLT. But apparently those Republicans think they know all about it.

There are two different topics here then. I was asking more from what’s actually happening, not what politicians are talking about. Regarding (Republican) politicians I think CRT is sort of an overall stand in that includes the 1619 Project, desire to teach white supremacy is dominate in our schools etc.

I didn’t know anything about CLT. CRT I’ve read quite a bit about (I’m not saying I’m anything close to an expert but I’ve read/listened quite a bit about it.)

The topic in the OP is this: "Republicans have spoken out against critical race theory on cable news and on the campaign trail, and have even tried to legislate against it, yet it appears most have struggled to even explain it."

Apparently the Republicans "know" what CRT is all about and yet they cannot describe what it is.

You know how long threads take on lives of their own. I was offering my thoughts on CRT in much of it. That had nothing to do with what Congressional Republicans were/are saying.

If CRT doesn’t divide oppressors vs oppressed based on race, then people of color aren’t being oppressed?

CRT rather speaks to institutionally racist systems, not individual people.

Bullshit, on 1/6 having the first thing to do with race. It was over an election, for crying out loud.

1/6 was white grievance for no accommodation.

White rage drove The Big Lie because it was Black and minority voters who propelled Biden to the White House.

The word ‘yes’ doesn’t prove systemic racism is anything more than an artificial construct.

That is precisely what CRT says...so you see, you support CRT without even realizing it.

Do you believe racism is genetic, or do people learn to be racist?

Define redlining and prove it’s an actual thing.

Are you seriously just learning about Redlining now? Your ignorance proves the need for CRT.

REDLINING

That being said it's not justification for CRT and the ideology they want to present.

So you describe an institutionally racist system, but say it's not justification for CRT?

How is it not? You just described precisely the type of subject CRT would cover.
