DiFi Clearly Reads JPP

Low and behold Desh was correct. Political operatives do read this board and take comments that Desh uses to use themselves publicly. We have DiFi referencing Hitler here as well as almost every other argument Desh has used. Props to Desh must be given.

Dianne Feinstein: “We bear responsibility” for future chemical attacks

Sen. Dianne Feinstein said in an impassioned floor speech Wednesday that the Assad regime has the capacity to kill “tens of thousands” with chemical weapons, saying, “If the world doesn’t respond now, we bear responsibility for a larger tragedy happening later.”

Feinstein said if diplomatic efforts to disarm Syria of its chemical weapons fail, “I know we’re going to be back here on the floor” debating a war resolution for a military strike.

The California Democrat who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee strongly backs a U.S. military intervention.

Feinstein said she met with the Russian ambassador this week, who described Russia’s intention to get Syria to disarm. “It was sincere,” Feinstein said. “The ball is really in Russia’s court. Russia is taking the lead in this. I trust it is sincere. I trust that the United States and Russia will come together and that it will be possible for the United Nations to act so the U.S. won’t have to.”

Feinstein argued that the United States to intervene should diplomacy fail, urging the public to examine videos of the Aug. 21 chemical attack posted on the website of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which she chairs.

She said she was most affected by a video of a Syrian girl with long dark hair, wearing pajamas, who “looked just like my daughter” at that age, except that she was dead from a gas attack.

Feinstein described in graphic detail the effects on victims: “Foaming mouths, pinpointed, constricted pupils, the signature of sarin gas, convulsions, gasping for breath, all happening as the nervous system begins to shut down,” as well as “rows and rows of bodies” at an improvised morgue.

Feinstein emphasized the intelligence, which she said could not be released fully without compromising sources, that provided what she said is incontrovertible evidence that the Assad regime used chemical weapons. She said initial attacks were small, killing eight to 10, people, and that that Aug. 21 attack that killed an estimated 1,400 or so was a major escalation.

She cited Hitler’s use of gas in the Holocaust, millions of casualties from chemical weapons in World War I, saying that allowing the Syrian attacks to go unpunished would invite more attacks from Syria, and encourage use of such weapons by North Korea, whose arsenal dwarf’s Syria’s, she said, and threatens 28,000 U.S. soldiers based across the border in South Korea.

“If nothing is done to stop this use (chemical weapons) will be used in future conflicts,” Feinstein said. “I am really sure of that.”

She said she is certain that Assad, “will use them again. They are ready to go. Why would Assad load bombs with chemical weapons and not use them?”

Feinstein said not acting would send “such a signal of weakness to the rest of world, that yes, we are a paper tiger. That’s going to be conclusion in Iran and North Korea.”

She quoted Albert Einstein, who famously said, “The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of people who are evil but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”

She pleaded with the public not to allow the United States to give up its “leading role in the world. We are the nation that others look upon to stop repressive dictators and massive violations of human rights,” she said. “We cannot withdraw in our own borders and do nothing and let the world do nothing.”

Don't be silly. The point you're picking up on is that the American arguments are so well tailored now that you're going to hear them from many people at the same time as just a "standard" reply. Neither Desh nor Feinstein has fed off each other.

I'd move there in a heart beat.

We've often heard 'chatter' about splitting California into two states, North and South, but nothing ever at the legislative level (that i'm aware of). In reality we could probably split off Central California if we wanted to as well. But hey, why stop at three? Let's throw Jefferson into the mix. Now we have some real action.

Clearly you are unaware of other arguments Desh has made on this board that have been picked up and used on YouTube and other places. Please don't try to sell short the power of the written word on JPP. We drive the national discussion here.

So, how is this "State of Jefferson" going to pay for the Rim fire (80 million plus) with its limited rural population? A population that relies heavily upon govt funding, by the way - state and federal. MediCal, prisons, roads, CHP, etc etc etc

Because they're whining about a $115 fire fee, they want to break off and pay for tens of millions of dollars of things on their own?

These are the poorest, least populated counties that are "threatening" to break off. If my county is one of them and if it actually happened, I'd move in a second.

Of course, it will never happen, and they should be very glad about that.

I know, the thought of even slightly reducing fascism is like Kryptonite to you.

Oh really! Don't flatter yourself. Any politician that could ever be shown to have something in common with this fuckfest of a forum would risk discrediting herself completely. Much more likely that the message has become quite standard in the American mindset. And besides, there's obviously nothing original with anything either of them has said.

Are you somehow trying to make out that Desh is doing this in a professional capacity? LOL

Straight from the horse's mouth. As an aside you better be careful what you say on this board Monty in case people from Canada are monitoring you.

Um, I imagine I am living a bit closer to this issue than you. Has nothing to do with regulations and everything to do with the fact that the counties that want to secede can't possibly fund themselves.

There is already a group - RCRA, Rural County Representatives of California - that focuses on representing rural county issues to the state. The 33 rural states make up only 9% of California's population; while some think the threat to secede might get them more attention, honestly the state would love to lose them, I'm sure. But it won't cut them off, even if that makes economic sense.

But really - if it happens, go ahead! move there! You'll either be taxed at 90% or you'll have no services, no roads, no prison, no nothing. Up to you.

Yes, we know you live closer to the issue. Fascism lives and breathes deep in your heart. We have always known this.

By the way Tekky, for the most part I'm trolling you here. Not about Feinstein though. She's human garbage and should be shot out of a cannon into a brick wall.

I figured on the trolling; I imagine you really don't care about what a bunch of rural counties do.

Or maybe the goddess Califia has struck dread in your heart and you don't want any more of my curses...

But you're mostly wrong about Feinstein. Just can't stand strong women, huh?
