Didnt pay for firefighting service: house burns!

the guy claims he forgot...if it can be established that he has paid regularly in prior years and simply didn't pay this year, then the fire department is in the wrong

with that said, this guy chose to live in an area that he knew or should have known did not have fire service, if he wants "free" fire service, live in the incorporated areas....people live in unincorporated areas for a reason and many times it is to avoid paying certain taxes, like the fire dept. tax....

so, unless this guy can show he regularly paid, tough luck

Your wrong again. This an example of a privatized service. The guy didn't pay for the service so he didn't get the service.

I love how conservatives like Damn Yankee just throw out "buzz" words for absolutely no reason.

If they cant give a logical rationale they will just use big words like "socialism" and "fascist" for no apparent reason.

Good job douchebag.

CK

WRONG. It is a public fire department bound by local policies. A private fire department could have negotiated the situation.

This is not a for-profit business. It's a socialized service by definition; the community organization owns the means of production, which is the equipment to fight fires. It's fascist because it suppresses its opposition per your example, which is letting the guy's house burn when they had the opportunity to stop it.

Actually Ice Dancer your WRONG. It was a PRIVATE service, because he wasn't in their township. Aka he had to pay a fee to get coverage...Which he didn't do.

If it was a public fire fighting service, his house would have been saved.

Your a moron! Try again!

<SNIP>

Firefighters in South Fulton, Tennessee refused to respond when Gene Cranick's house was burning down. Cranick reportedly did not pay the $75 annual fire protection fee required of homeowners living outside South Fulton city limits.

In the past, fire protection wasn't always a government duty. Insurance companies funded the business by selling fire protection to homeowners. If you had the insurance company's medallion on your house, the fire company would put out the flames. If not, your house would burn.

Imagine the outrage if big, corporate insurance agnencies did the same thing today. Apparently, it's not only still legal to do that in Tennessee, it's the municipal governments running the racket. Residents call it "Pay to Spray."
According to a report in the Union City Messenger, the Pay to Spray system is for rural homeowners living outside city borders. The cities provide fire protection for taxpaying residents inside city limits, but rural folks only get protected if they opt to pay a fee, which in South Fulton is 75 bucks.

It's reported that Cranick or his neighbor offered to pay whatever it took to get the fire department to respond, but they were told it was too late. According to the Messenger story, South Fulton's mayor compared the rural fee to an insurance premium and held that if the fire department responded to houses that didn't pay the fee, there would be no incentive to pay it.

get a clue yourself moron!

What an idiot. Ice Dancer let me explain this in simple English.

The homeowner was NOT in the area where public firefighting service was available. Hence, he was in a private firefighting area. Hence, why he had the VOLUNTARY fee to pay if he wanted it. Hence, the South Felton mayor said as an example its a INSURANCE PREMIUM (PRIVATE!) .

What a dumbass. Let me give you another simple example. In Canada, healthcare is free (a public service). However, if your a tourist from lets say Japan, and you get into an accident in Canada. The tourist will have to pay for the health care (aka a private service).

Ice Dancer you just got owned again. Whose next?

You stupid fuck...that's right, he lived outside of an area where taxes are collected for said fucking fire department so if he wanted fire service he was required to pay a fee. That does not make the fire department public on the one hand and private on the other, it merely means that for the unincorporated service he had to pay a fee!

The fire department is a public not private municipality and thereore subject to the policies set forth; it can not negotiate them as a private company could have. This means dip-shit, that the policies governing this department, are what determined the decision not to fight this fire.

The fire department is not a public municipality. Do you even know the definition of municipality.

A private company wouldn't have negotiated during the situation either. This isn't the 1800s and the barter system doesn't work anymore.

The problem is your too stupid to understand the difference between a fire department and a firefighting service. They aren't always the same, and in this case they weren't.

The fire department can be publicly funded, but the fire fighting service does not have to be. Hence why there are cops who work as bouncers at night clubs during off hours.

They have no obligation to work there because they arent getting paid by the police department but they do work at night because they are being paid via private service.

Alright i'm done arguing with the joker Ice Dancer.

Every second I waste explaining it to Ice Dancer I feel my IQ dropping. Its like explaining something to a wall.

And once again, as it somehow always seems to do when the Ice Dunce is involved, the conversation descends into idiotic semantic hair-splitting and petulant, vulgarity-laced tantrums.

You show him ID...nobody, and I mean NOBODY gets to disagree with you and not get sprayed with your sickening bile.

:good4u:

What's ironic is that I'm using the conservative/private enterprise argument here... "he didn't pay for the service, so he shouldn't get the service".

So its ironic that the libertarians on here are actually agreeing with me, and its just the dumbass conservative hacks and apologists that can't seem to understand!

Ice Dancer is just an ideological hack who blames everything on a bunch of meaningless words like "socialism", "fascism", "communism".

Damocles doesn't ban people for saying vile and defamatory words, he only bans people he disagrees with politically.

Hence, why I have been banned multiple times on JPP, but people who talk about rapes and stuff like Ice Dancer remain free.

From my viewpoint this seems to be almost medieval, the UK Fire Service is centrally funded and paid for by the government. I am just amazed that this is not the same in the US.

This is America you must remember. Its run by a bunch of conservative fear-mongers who thinks private enterprise is the end all be all.

That's why I find this particular story amusing. Because it bites them back in the ass!

As per usual you roll onto the scene spewing your intentional blindness displaying your personal brand of incendiary hypocrisy. There is no hair splitting over whether or not the fire department in question is private or public; it’s one or the other you bellowing cow.

Just like your foul sexual comments about my daughter, that you justified because I called your wife flat shows your hypocrisy, so does this post you made. The dude called names first...I will always give that back if I so choose and I certainly won't let a cowardly hypocrite such as yourself make my rules.

When you got back the same about your daughter you screamed and cried... keep up the whine zap...really.

Fuck you! This isn't Canada and you don't know what the fuck you are talking about! The policy of the SFFD is that for areas outside of the city limits must pay an anual fee to have fire protection.

South Fulton Fire is a public municipality. Your IQ was absent to begin with dork!

A graph at their city website shows they have 3 full time firefighter and 2 part time. They do not have a volunteer fire department
