Exactly, and the Right turns the term into political mockery by grossly overemphasizing the awareness. In this way two goals are achieved: 1) even legitimate social awareness can be ignored while 2) political points are simultaneously scored against liberals, turning them into crybabies unlike the red blooded Americans taking them on with their Ipads.

They don't want to admit that the term began among the Black community, to describe the state of being aware (awakened) to racial discrimination and injustice. Because to discuss that in negative terms would be to reveal themselves as the racists that they are. The Reichwingers grabbed the term and morphed it to mean anything that they are not -- open-minded, tolerant, accepting, nonjudgmental, compassionate, empathetic.

I think I see your point. It's like when leftists slap labels on anyone who disagrees with them. You know what I mean, labels like homophobe, transphobe, misogynist, racist, fascist etc etc etc. In doing so leftists try to achieve 2 goals:1) by slapping a label on others leftists think they don't needed to defend their position and they think they have effectively countered the argument. It's as ineffective as it is intellectually lazy. 2) Its how the left virtue signals one another to show how "woke" they are.

Bingo. It can also apply to those who support equality for other minorities -- the LGBTQ community, immigrants, non-whites, non-Xtians, whoever the RW Hate du Jour happens to be.

"Woke" is a term that, when used by the Reichwingers as a slur, indicates that the speaker is a weak and fearful bigot.

Because then they'd have to do something about it. Even if it's something as simple as not using racist language in public.

Their #MalignantMessiah made public racism okay. Now the Reichwingers are bound and determined that they're going to keep things that way. Using Woke as a pejorative accomplishes that, they "think."
