Let me preface where this question is coming from. My buddy posted this on Facebook:

‎""90 Days, 90 Reasons. I'm happy to be advising on this project conceived by Dave Eggers and Jordan Kurland. It's time to get fired up about re-electing Obama. Even if you're not as excited as you were four years ago, the alternative is gross. Check out the first two reasons, by Ben Gibbard and Roger Ebert. 88 more to come over the next 88 days. Some pretty amazing people are participating. If you agree that Obama is a better choice than Romney, please share this, like it on Facebook, follow on Twitter. Spread the word. http://90days90reasons.com/""

So I checked out the link and one of the two reasons was he faced down the health care industry. I'm not asking this as a gotcha question or you should or should not vote for Obama. I'm just asking if people think the comment is true, that he really did that.

You really don't understand how lobbying works do you Wacko? Otherwise you'd understand that you just asked a rhetorical question.

i do not need 90 reasons, i only have one reason...mittens and his policies...at least today's policies, he will do or say anything to get elected

Fair enough, you're a liberal I would expect you to vote for Obama. But that wasn't the question I was asking. We know how people are going to vote on this board. I was asking the specific question about the health care comment made on the website..

It's a rhetorical question Wacko. Did Reagan face down the AFL-CIO and Unions in general when he fired the air traffic controllers? Fuckin A right he did.

He went some of the way but he allowed the healthcare lobbyists to drip poison into the right ears.

True but the important thing is that he's established an irreverable precedent. The ACA was just a beginning. There's still a hell of a lot of reforming that needs to be done.

Obama did not face down the health insurance industry. He allowed them to write Obamacare AND the health insurance industry is its biggest beneficiary by far.

Ask who wrote the legislation and your question will be answered.

So why is the GOP so pissed off?

Tom, I'm friends with a guy who is on President Obama's job commission. It's pretty crazy talking to him because unlike us who sit here and just talk about these politicians he actually meets with Obama and Boehner and Pelosi, Finestein, Boxer etc. What I pick up from him is the number one concern for those in higher office is power, either retaining it or gaining it. So it doesn't matter if say a bill happens to be good policy what is important is how the politics of it play out. So if the Republicans think there is weakness in Obamacare they are going to go after it 100% even if some of them happen to think it is good policy.

When talking politics it's easy to get very passionate and caught up in what your "side" is doing but then hearing this guy tell me stories it makes me take a step back and attempt to think from a different picture and realize these politicians are far more alike than they are different.
