Last week, Sarah Palin told a local news station in Boston that Paul Revere "warned the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms."

As the news media rushed to point out that Revere was, in fact, warning the American colonists, not the British, Palin's supporters apparently attempted to update the Wikipedia entry on Revere in order to make the facts conform to Palin's version of history.

According to the revision history on the Wikipedia page, Palin supporters attempted to add the line in italics below:

Revere did not shout the phrase later attributed to him ("The British are coming!"), largely because the mission depended on secrecy and the countryside was filled with British army patrols; also, most colonial residents at the time considered themselves British as they were all legally British subjects.

The "ride" of Paul Revere, in his and witnesses words...

http://www.earlyamerica.com/lives/revere/chapt3/

From "The True Story of Paul Revere" which covers his life, his capture and his subsequent Court Martial. The link is Chapter 3, which covers the events of warning of the approaching British. He and Dawes were set to run separately to ensure the message went through if one were captured.

The original video, from Channel 7, really makes it look like Palin got a historical question she wasn't expecting, and then flubbed it.

The way she grits her teeth on the phrase "riding HIS HORSE THROUGH TOWN!" is agonizing, for all involved. And look, if someone asked me, on the spot, to explain exactly what happened during Paul Revere's ride, I'd struggle a bit to access my elementary school memory banks.

The twist, with Palin, is that she has a bona fide army of supporters who will sic themselves on anyone and anything that threatens to damage her image.

quit cracking on the Palinistas, where is our comedy going to come from if she bails AGAIN.
Romney, that stuff suit is too busy trying to get a rap disputing Romney care.

P.S. from the looks of the pic, Sarah needs a treadmill badly

Sarah Palin's supporters have attempted to edit Paul Revere's Wikipedia page to make it fit with the politician's version of events.

The Republican was slammed by the media for her re-imagining of the patriot's famous 1775 'midnight ride', which she claimed was intended to warn both British soldiers and his fellow colonists.

Palin was standing her ground on the gaffe today and so were her legions of fans, who sparked a furious debate after trying to edit the Wikipedia entry.

The changed content read: 'Accounts differ regarding the method of alerting the colonists; the generally accepted position is that the warnings were verbal in nature, although one disputed account suggested that Revere rang bells during his ride.'

I see the moralists who want Weiner to quit have no problem with Palinistas trying to hack history...

They say if you don't like the topic, change the conversation. Or, "If you don't like your favorite political figure getting roasted by the news media for failing to describe Paul Revere's historic nighttime ride, change the facts on Revere's Wikipedia page." That's just what Sarah Palin supporters did over the weekend ....

Why....?....No body made a claim like that.....

really....cite where he says he warned the british while riding his horse through town ringing the bells and firing shots

o'rly

He who warned the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms by ringing those bells and, um, making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that, uh, we were going to be secure and we were going to be free

how can you deny it....her words are right there.....in black and white...dude...what is your problem?

Paul Revere House: On the way to Lexington, Revere "alarmed" the country-side, stopping at each house, and arrived in Lexington about midnight. As he approached the house where Adams and Hancock were staying, a sentry asked that he not make so much noise. "Noise!" cried Revere, "You'll have noise enough before long. The regulars are coming out!"

(do you know what noise he was making?)
It's true that shots were fired and bells were rung, but not by Revere. According to David Hackett Fischer's 1995 book "Paul Revere's Ride," Revere rode to the house of Captain Isaac Hall, commander of Medford's minutemen, and it was Hall who triggered the town's alarm system. Fischer added (on page 140): "A townsman remembered that 'repeated gunshots, the beating of drums and the ringing of bells filled the air.' "

Palin's answer was on the mark in general terms...it wasn't meant to be a history lesson on the details of the incident but a general overview of it....and

To keep on whining about silly bullshit

“He who warned uh, the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh by ringing those bells, and um, makin’ sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.”

If Sarah Palin shit on Blabo's head and told him it was snowing, he'd bust out his snow saucer and start sleddin'.

Exactly.....

So Paul Revere rang bells and fired shots to warn the British?

Blabo seems to have fled the thread.

Is he sledding in the brown stuff, or enjoying a snack?
