Department of Education now using SWAT teams

I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I'm just telling you how it is. There is no way in hell that any judge anywhere authorized a search warrant in connection with a loan collection matter. It had to be in connection with a criminal investigation, likely a fraud investigation. The reporting is incorrect.
you have proof of this, no doubt? would you care to let the rest of us unknowing fools in on the actual information for the warrant? you obviously have this info.

It is always good to have an all knowing douche bag handy. I am glad you know that no judge has ever authorized such a warrant. Good to know no authority has ever abused their powers.

I'm not really concerned with whether you believe me here. I'm more trying to educate you and the assembled masses. This is not a simply collection matter on a loan default.

Again douche bag.... Do you really expect us to believe this was the intent of the HSA? Give me a fucking break. Tell us genius... how many Inspectors General's are there? Since you are all knowing on this topic.... do tell us that. How many?

I don't give a fuck what the intent of the HSA was. The effect of the HSA was to give IGs law enforcement powers. And, according to Wikipedia, there are 73 IGs.

Hey dipshit.... you may want to see who is in charge of the government right now and who is responsible for sending a SWAT team to collect a student loan.

hey assclown you are dumb enough to think repuklican institutions would dissapear with a dem pres

I do not have "proof" that the search warrant was not issued in connection with a loan collection case (though I note that you lack any proof of the contrary). First of all, search warrants only issue for criminal investigations. Non-payment of student loans is not a crime. Collecting on a defaulted student loan is a civil matter. Search warrants are not issued in civil cases. The Inspector General does not chase down and prosecute delinquent borrowers. It investigates fraud, abuse and waste.

you are doing nothing more than stating your OPINION on what you HOPE is the case. You do not KNOW. You are guessing. Period.

Very good. 73.... and let me guess you expected them to instead list out exactly what each IG was allowed to use it for? Right? Or are you like most rational adults who realize they expect the IG to be responsible for HOW they use the power granted?

Bottom line.... it is the CURRENT DoE IG that is responsible... Inspector General Kathleen Tighe.... I wonder who appointed her???

Dipshit... the DoE was created under Carter (at least in its present form)..... so tell us... which party did Carter belong to again?

Nothing except the NEWS STORY.... but I suppose the journalists who did the story didn't bother looking at the warrant.... right? They probably just said... 'hey, we'll take your word for it'. Is that what you would like us to believe? That the news team didn't bother looking at the warrant that they clearly had access to?

Right.... no evidence there at all...

Not guessing. Given what I know, the chances that this search warrant was issued and executed in connection with a defaulted student loan are exceedingly slim.

You're the one bitching about "Big Government," not me. I find it odd that you hate "Big Government" but instead of opposing "Big Government" completely you instead just hope that people use their Big Government powers judiciously.

Bottom line.... it is the CURRENT DoE IG that is responsible... Inspector General Kathleen Tighe.... I wonder who appointed her???

Yes, the current IG is responsible for this investigation. (She's an Obama appointee, by the way. No need to wonder, though her government service dates back decades to the GHWB administration). But if you're pissed about "Big Government" and not just pissed at Kathleen Tighe, you should be pissed about the fact that she has this power to "abuse" in the first instance.

I was not aware that you held News10-ABC journalists in such high regard. I mean, journalists never get anything wrong, right?

if you have no proof of the above, then how do you have any proof that this WASN'T in connection with a student loan default?

Reading the article again, here's the DOE Statement:

"The Office of Inspector General does not engage in the collection of student loans. Our mission is to conduct criminal investigations related to the programs and operations of the U.S. Department of Education, which include the student financial aid programs. We can confirm that we executed a search warrant at the residence, however our policy is not to discuss details of our on-going work."

Of course, that's what they would say. :tinfoil:

I stand corrected. As STY posted the warrant, the news team is indeed inept. The issue being investigated is indeed fraud. We will just chalk this up to 'luck' on your part for being right.
