Be it a movement or an individual, matters little, sounds great, I’d agree 100%, but it isn’t real given the election calendar, and would only be a spoiler, one capitalized by the party with everything to gain
Third parties, or alternatives, don’t start at the top one year out, rather are built locally and build up from there, and they have to represent something more than just not likely either candidate
Admittedly I'm not well versed in the history of attempting to start new political parties so I can't speak to the best strategy being starting local or nationally. And I would imagine any new party is likely to be only a potential spoiler at first in the sense they probably won't win right away, but that's to be expected. If you're trying to build something it usually doesn't happen overnight. The question is whether you can build something sustainable or are you an overnight flash.
On one hand America is the greatest country in the world so I am not in the 'we need to burn it down and start over' camp. However IF polling is accurate it shows people frustrated with our current situation/set up. Therefore, in a democracy we claim to be, a group like No Labels has a chance to compete and give people an alterative they claim they desire. If they determine they don't want them that's fine.
But I understand why they are starting at the top as opposed to local races. Try and get name recognition nationally and have it filter downwards (Congress, state, local races etc.)
